Surgery on May 10th!

Recommended Posts

Hello! did anyone felt a little bit guilty or concern pre-surgery?

I'm so confused right now, not knowing if this is what God wants in my life...it is difficult, because I thought that with diet and exercise was going to loose my weight, but I couldn't.

I failed so many times, I prayed about it, cried about it, and now, since I decided to get the lap-band, everything seems to be working towards the surgery.

Prayers will be appreciate it!

Yes I felt very guilty before and a little bit after surgery. I always struggled with me weight and I always wondered why God "blessed" me with weight issues. I was afraid to tell a lot of my church friends (who are all skinny, who always told me God made me beautiful, not fat) but when I told them they were even more supportive than my family. I'm 2 months post-op and I have lost 17 pounds, the most I've ever lost before was 12 pounds doing weight watchers 3 years ago (which I gained it all back, and then some). I know I couldn't have done it without surgery. I (and I'm sure you are too) did it for health reasons, not just cosmetic. This way I can live a longer, healthier life and spend more time on this earth being the best child of God I can be.

Best wishes and prayers to you.

I have felt guilty and selfish. I have prayed and prayed asking The Lord if this was ok to have surgery. My husband supports me. And my parents and in-laws support me which gives me peace. I needed help and I feel like Lap Band is a tool to do that job. The Lord has worked out the finances, time off work and more so I'm trusting Him. My surgery is May 9.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
