Interested in doing a weekly call-in for supporting each other?

Recommended Posts

I wanted to see if there was any interest for me hosting a weekly dial-in phone number where we could all talk and discuss our Success, Struggles and support each other through his weight loss journey. Let me know if you are interested and I will set something up because I personally need 300% support/help fighting my demons to learn how to be successful in weight loss.

Yes not video however. I have a conference line I use for work that we could leverage to help each other out.

I think it would be good if we did one with a limited number of people on there- maybe 10-12? I'm afraid if we got too many it would just be chaos.

Yes I agree. I wasn't sure how many are even interested in doing this to begin with. If a lot of people responded I was going to do several options to keep things small and controllable.

I'd love to be part of this. I have no real-life support group where I live; my surgeon/ the hospital did not have one so I only have LBT (and people IRL but they aren't bandsters). I'm overseas but my phone line gives me free calls worldwide.

For the ones that are interested in a call can you send me a private message that has your email address listed so I can send you the call in information? I don't want to publically post it so we can keep the group to a controllable amount. Thanks!

Hi everyone - I haven't forgotten you just had to go on the road for work. It looks like my best days to host a call due to my new project are Tues or Weds evenings at 6:30 or 7 on PST. Is that too late for everyone? I might be able to do mid day Fri as well but won't have that confirmed for another week until I get my new schedule worked out. Let me know what day works best and we will get this scheduled to start next week. Look forward to supporting each other.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
