moorecr 70 Posted April 22, 2013 Hello, everyone Patiently waiting on the call to see if I'm approved. While waiting I've been going back and forth in my thoughts whether I should even get banded. I'm sure it's just a nerves but I wanted to share and see if anyone else has experience this?
CaGottaBand 498 Posted April 22, 2013 I think it's really common. I'm in the same boat as you...waiting to hear if I'm approved as well.
pkchop 58 Posted April 22, 2013 I am a self pay and I am being banded May 3. Now I am starting to think am I doing the right thing!? Boy what a roll a coaster ride!
JennaSoto 85 Posted April 22, 2013 I'm hoping this is normal- I have been on the preop diet for a week now and have lost 3 pounds- 10 pounds since I started this journey back in October. I know that without help I will never be able to lose it and keep it off- but it sure makes you wonder. I have been up an down ith my weight my entire life- I lose some and then I gain more back than I lost. I am grateful for supportive family an friends that keep telling me I can do it. I have had one who said see you can do this on your own- I know from past expeiences that I can't, but it sure makes you have an internal debate!
moorecr 70 Posted April 22, 2013 It def is a roller coaster ! I've been thinking so much I've been dreaming about the procedure...
2muchfun 8,927 Posted April 22, 2013 I don't recall vacillating back and forth before surgery simply because I knew the WLS was my only option to get healthy again. I knew for a fact that dieting wouldn't work so this was my only option. Be sure you've closed all other doors before you open this one and walk through. tmf 4 ☠carolinagirl☠, CaGottaBand, Cazzy and 1 other reacted to this
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted April 22, 2013 I never had any second thoughts at all. I guess everyone is different. You all are making a decision to improve your lives. That far outweights any risks associated with the band. It is a great choice but no always easy. Just know that going in and you will be fine. 2 CaGottaBand and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
moorecr 70 Posted April 22, 2013 You guys are absolutely correct, thank you for your views on the situation. I think the scariest part for me is the anesthesia. 1 JennaSoto reacted to this
Spaness2012 609 Posted April 22, 2013 I too was nervous about the surgery (in general) but I also knew the Lapband was definitley for me. Take some time to research and soul search. You'll know once it all comes together. Good luck!
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted April 22, 2013 i never flip flopped either...once i realized i was gonna get help to (help me walk) and push my baby grand daughter in her stroller, i was like, lets roll... 1 2muchfun reacted to this
2muchfun 8,927 Posted April 22, 2013 And I agree with you on the anesthesia. I don't react well to that stuff. I think for me, the anesthesia was the worst part of the surgery. I didn't really have much pain afterwards as many people post here on this forum but I felt like I was traumatized for a week after surgery due to the massive amounts of anesthesia, pain meds, fluids, anti-biotics and oxygen. tmf
newbeebee 23 Posted April 22, 2013 I have been banded 6 weeks tomorrow - I was second guessing my decision even as I was being led into the surgery room - I think we know we need help but also are scared of the unknown - so far I am having a great experience with the band - have a fill tomorrow. 2 JennaSoto and 2muchfun reacted to this
catfish87 3,471 Posted April 22, 2013 I second guessed myself a lot! Why couldn't I just diet? Why not exercise more? Why not just eat better foods? Do I really need surgery to eat less? etc, etc,etc...... My answer to myself was I had already tried all the above several times, for several years, yet I continued to gain. I could do all those things....for a few weeks at a time. I needed something to help me get my eating under control, LONG TERM.....and my experience with it is YES, this IS what I needed! I would do it again tomorrow! Best wishes to you, know that a lot of us have been through the exact thoughts you're going through. 4 ☠carolinagirl☠, JennaSoto, 2muchfun and 1 other reacted to this
