****Do not read if you are on your pre-op or post-op diets!****

I hope this doesn't push anyone off the wagon, but I'm just coming down from a great weekend full of fun and food. I don't have a surgery date yet, but I suspect to hear something this week. So in light of my pending pre-op diet, I took the opportunity to enjoy what will likely be my last days of unrestricted eating...for the rest of my life. It helped that it was my daughter's 14th birthday...so I treated her and her friends to a weekend get-away. We had our fill of crablegs, crawfish, potatoes, corn and lots of butter at Calypso buffet inside of Isle of Capri Casino, Lake Charles, LA. To top it off we had an amazing marble cake with butter cream icing and later had dinner at my parents house...barbeque was over flowing!

I truly enjoyed all of the great food, but I'm starting to notice that I already eat a lot less than I normally would, I know it's psychological which gives me more hope about my ability to be successful on this journey. Anyway, I have my fingers crossed that I will have a definite answer on my surgery date this week so I can really mentally prepare for this change.

I was like that this past weekend I was eating food that I normally don't eat it was like everything I learned during my decision making went out the window I also went out drinking because I wanted to get wasted for the last time that didn't happen I ended up drinking 55 selects the whole night I had 5 total. I normally have like 8 bud lights and 5 shots when I drink. I agree it was like my mind was psychologically preparing me for what lies ahead.

Don't beat yourself up over it. I think we have all had our "last meal" and thoroughly enjoyed it, nothing to feel bad or,guilty over. It's funny how our eating habits change so much once we're banded and what we once loved to eat doesn't appeal to us anymore. You'll understand what I mean in the near future. I'm glad you had a nice bday with your daughter, her next birthday will probably totally different for you and you won't feel one bit deprived. You can have it all and eat your cake too, the piece is just going to be smaller.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
