Burning sensation, pain in my stomach, burning skin, shoulder wont let up

Recommended Posts

Today makes one month post up. My stomach feels funny, won't stop sneezing, blowing my nose constantly, whenever I need to have a bowel movement my left shoulder hurts and when o sneeze also. My port area is still sore, my skin is burning and I can't close my pants. I'm unable to lay on my stomach or on my side yet. I'm going to see my doctor on the 2 nd but is this what life with the band is? I feel like I made a huge mistake. Won't stop burning and get the hiccups at least every other day. When I feel hungry my shoulder will hurt again, it's like it hurts whenever I have any physiological needs. Any feedback will be good at this point.

you sound like a lot going on

i would personally consult with your doctor as soon as you can

sneezing could mean allergies

port is sore as mine was for about a month so this seems normal

my left shoulder hurts sometimes usually if i eat too fast

please dont think you made a mistake as you have something inside to help you eat less

but this was this was major surgery and your body must heal..

I agree with CG, you are still healing. Listen to your body and by all means if you need the doctor call him early. No need to suffer. I sleep on my tummy all the time. BTW/

Sneezing is my signal to STOP eating!! Whatever it is for you, call your doctor's office on Monday. It doesn't sound like anything major, but only your doctor will know for sure. Also, I'll bet a month from now you're loving your band instead of wondering what you've done...

My port area was sore for nearly two months. The burning, I also had on and off for about the same time. That's from nerves being cur when the incisions are made. It WILL go away. You'll feel so different in a few weeks. Hang in there. I felt so much different at two months post-op from the way I felt at one month out.

Don't burden yourself worrying if you made a mistake...

Spend this time healing and learning about your body and your ful signs. Many people sneeze or get hiccups when they're full

Are you feeling any better at all? That's got to be a drag. Sorry you're miserable ((()))

Today is better because I only have the burning skin and port discomfort. But when it's all at the same time I just want to cry. Last night I was in a lot of discomfort with port and skin and shoulder but I managed to fall asleep without any pain meds. :) thx for asking

Also I ate something before I got hungry. I've noticed that my shoulder starts hurting before I get hungry, or have to go to the bathroom. :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
