Are you actually tracking what you are eating? Sometimes we are not eating as well as we think we are. Not saying that is the problem. It could also be the amount of exercise, or not having the right fill yet or the type of foods. I track everything. If you are doing everything right, talk to your nutritionist. They are there to help.

I am a lot like SueBee I track everything I eat. I realize it is a lot of work but it was the only way I could stay honest with myself. I also measure and weigh food. When i was trying to lose I ate pretty close to 1200 calories a day and ate at least 70 gms of Protein but tried to get closer to 90 gms. I also exercised 6 days a week when losing weight, I would do 30 to 45 minutes on tread mill of walk 5-6 miles per day plus 30 minutes of strength training 3 days per week. Building muscle helps you burn fat. Eating healthy has to include high protein for weight loss to be successful and for you not to feel hungry. On days even while at goal that I eat poorly and take in less than 50gms of protein I get hungry, I may have made healthy choices and had calories but not enough protein to keep me satisfied. Good luck to you!

I also think the calorie intake depends on how much you are exercising (burning).

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
