Dragonwillow 0 Posted April 27, 2006 Since I'm going on the cruise in June I need a dressy dress for dinner. Anyone have something in 18 they don't need or that I can borrow? Diane, since you have been on cruises before...how dressy do I need?
Tricia K. 0 Posted April 27, 2006 I don't have any but if you're unable to find one here, I've seen a lot of nice dresses on alight.com.
Wheetsin 714 Posted April 27, 2006 Hey Dragonwillow, You will see ALL sorts on formal night on your cruise, from true formals to sundresses with a shrug. Guys will be in anything from a tuxedo to a suit, to pants with a sport coat (and even more casual). We only went to one formal night since DH was seasick on the other. He wore a charcoal suit and I wore a skirt & top - the skirt was black silk with a sheer taffeta overlay, and the top was black velvet with sheer sleeves. We had two other couples at our table. One of the guys didn't show up the night we did, but the girl had on a more casual red dress with a fauz for shrug, and the other couple was wearing (her) a sequined aquatop with a black skirt, and (him) black dress pants with a white button-down shirt (untucked). I'll see if I can find some pics.

wavydaby 1 Posted April 27, 2006 I loooove me a cruise. My first cruise, I had a formal black dress, very nice. I have nice pictures of hubby(tux) and I. Second cruise.. I wore a "goin to church dress" Thrid cruise, I wore a khakies and a nice sweater set Fourth cruise, Well, they were just dam lucky I showed up to their "Fancy dinner party". I wore a nice shirt and shorts. :grouphug: Its all in what you want to wear. Your first cruise, Make it an adventure. Get a facial, get your nails done, Get a nice "formal" picture made. Kinda like prom, only more fun. Also, eat at the "main dining room" EVERY night. There is only one night that is "formal" (ie Captians Dinner) The rest are just, dress nicely dinners. I hated the buffet dinners that were not in the formal dinning room. Plus, all the REALLY nice stuff is in the formal dining room. And, the good thing is that the portions are small that they serve to you. No temptation to load up your plate
piercedqt78 658 Posted April 28, 2006 I have a size 18 dress that Penni60 sent me, it is too big on me and I would be happy to pass it on to you. It is from Dress Barn it's really pretty black and green and has a little sweater with it, but it is light enough not to be too hot. Let me know if you want it, just PM me the address and I will get it right out to you. ~Mandy
Dragonwillow 0 Posted April 28, 2006 Wow, was mainly just asking the nc ladies since I see most of them often. I think I found one I like at torrid...gotta drag hubby back to see it on. Though he told me the last hankerchief skirt was too young for me. Yeah that got him in alot of trouble LOL. Wavey I'm going with the girl scout troop, leaving paul and Karah at home. LOL, so won't go too fancy. LOL But I know the girls are all planning on wearing their prom dresses and social dresses.
wavydaby 1 Posted April 28, 2006 All the more reason to find a dressy dress and take a picture with you and the "More Mature" daughter. :faint: Think bonding.... Must go on cruise... must have another facial... ahhhhhhhhhh
Dragonwillow 0 Posted May 1, 2006 I can wear Kristen's dress! It of course looks better on her...but I can wear it. She told me I could wear it to Pauls reunion. She has lost weight recently...more than me actually lol. I told her if she lost too much and her dress was too big I'd buy her another if she wants. I'm so proud of her. She has really stuck to the no soda and no meat thing.
