So tired all the time. Lacking protein?

Recommended Posts

I have had my band for 3 yrs now. I was banded may 2010. I have bounced around with my weight a lot. I've been up and down. I have had a hard time following the rules and eating healthy. I find myself tired a lot. I feel as if I am malnourished. I drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and then eat a "normal" dinner.... Homemade chili, healthy Soups, chicken dishes etc. maybe I need to add some Snacks in between? Does anyone have any snack ideas? I don't do well with anything very dry as it doesn't go down well. Sometimes I feel so limited to what I can eat and I get discouraged :( I am doing a work out routine and half the time in have no energy to even follow through.

I know In a post earlier i said I have had my band for 4 yrs but I was mistaken. It has only been 3 yrs. I was worried because I have heard all these ppl talking about dr kuri's band not being good and that's who banded me. I have had no problems so far though.

It sounds like you need to speak with the nutritionist. I don't think you're eating enough though. Perhaps they'll add a meal for you? Keep trying...it certainly doesn't sound as though motivation is a problem for you...you can do it!!

If you have been banded since 2010, you need to get off the Protein Drinks and eat real food. You are really missing out on all of the Vitamins and nutrients, plus the shakes will not fill you and are sliders so you will be more hungry.

Go back to 2-3 ounces of dense Protein, 1/4 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of a good carb. You should be able to do that two to three times a day with two Snacks if you only do it two times a day. I can't do it three times, too much food.< /p>

My Snacks are usually Quacker Oat Squares Cereal (dry), banana chips and almonds. Sometimes a slice of cheese and multigrain crackers. Find stuff that is good for you that you enjoy.

Log everything you eat and track your exercise on something like my fitness pal.

Are you taking any Vitamins? You should be at least taking a multiple and calcium citrate. I also take a b complex and Biotin.

Agree that you need to see your nutritionist to get you on track with real food.

There are a LOT of reasons you could be feeling more tired that have nothing to do with the band. I suggest you see your regular doctor. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
