labwalker 1,177 Posted April 20, 2013 So far I am losing at least two pounds a week, mostly due to going to the health club every day for cardio, and by following a 1000 calorie diet with good Protein intake (over 60 grams.) I've had three fills, but except for the first few days after the last fill I don't feel any restriction. I can eat a whole banana, etc. without getting stuck. But... I do feel feel after a eating a meal, and so far I've haven't had serious late night carb munchies. Should I go for a fourth, small fill to control portions, and go to four meals a day from three, or should I wait and see how far I can go with my current status? I kind of like being able eat what I want, even though I avoid the bad stuff. 1 marlena_marie reacted to this
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted April 20, 2013 Let your doctor help you decide if you need a fill or not, but remember the band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything. So, don't gauge whether or not you need a fill based on what or how much you can eat. Can you go at least 4 hours after a cup or less of food without hunger? If yes, you probably don't need a fill. If no, then you might need a small one. Talk to your doctor. Best wishes
suzannetex 100 Posted April 20, 2013 I think if your loosing and eating healthy just wait till u can no longer do it,then go for fill. Hey my thought is if it works stick with it . I only go for a fill when I can eat waaaay more than a cup of food. And start the late night carb munchies,,, but it's your body u do what u feel is best for you Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
labwalker 1,177 Posted April 20, 2013 Well, I certainly can eat more than a cup of food, but it is "good" food. Proteins mostly. For folks eating one cup at a meal, are you doing more than three meals a day?
suzannetex 100 Posted April 20, 2013 Shoot I can eat way more than 1 cup of food now. That's why I'm going for fill on Monday. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk Most of us can eat more than a cup of food, that's why we're supposed to measure our portions. It's our job to stop eating after a cup not the band's job to force us. Have a look at this link, I think it will help you understand: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html 2 Lose100 and Kai-shek reacted to this
marlena_marie 50 Posted April 20, 2013 Mis73. I know this all to well but now at eating 1/2c of food does not even satisfy me. That's why in turn my dr says I need small adjustment so I do as my drs tell me, they know what's best for me and my band. We r all different no 2 ppl are alike. I have friends who have never had a fill and others who are at 9 cc in a 10 cc band. So I am getting a fill as my dr advised. Than you for your interest in me Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk I believe that is what Mis73 was trying to convey with her posts.....you need to follow your doctors recommendations and that she is not a doctor. Just someone who has lost over 200 pounds and still rocking with her band and pretty much knows quite a bit about being successful with it. Good luck to you with your next fill....I hope it works out for you. 2 Kai-shek and DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! reacted to this
kll724 3,055 Posted April 20, 2013 My surgeon's office has us fill out a survey before each appointment. if you answer yes to certain questions, you might need a fill. It sounds to em that you probably do not, but it is best to talk to you surgeon and decide between the 2 of you. Best wishes and great results so far! I skipped my last one, even through I was plateaued because I thought I was on the loose side of the green zone and wanted time to adjust. I go back in next week and may or may not get a tweak. 2 brianb and DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! reacted to this
labwalker 1,177 Posted April 20, 2013 I had to argue and fight for the third, I wasn't losing an ounce almost three months out from surgery and getting discouraged. The APRN said I was doing about .25 lbs a week, and he was happy with that loss... I wasn't! I know I can lose the weight with diet and exercise, done it before. It's those long winter months when you don't want to go and be active that do me in. Right now I don't feel any restriction, regardless of what I eat, except for a few very dry foods that go down slow. But, I am curious for those who measure a cup of food per meal--how many meals do you eat, how calories per day, and how much Protein? I'm on the low side for protein--about 60 to grams, and that's eating yogurt for Breakfast and fish fillets for lunch and supper. I try to keep the calorie count at 1000 for the day. Despite not having noticeable restriction, I still feel satiated after my meals, which I guess is the start of the Green Zone? I do feel some restriction for a few days after a fill--is that caused by the stomach swelling and reacting to the increased band pressure? But, that feeling subsides in a few weeks.
