How do YOU feel when YOU are full?

Recommended Posts

The golfball thing SUX. SO far that's the only problem I've ever encountered. No PB, Sliming, etc.

However, it's kinda funny and I try not to do it. But when I'm SATISFIED...I put my hands behind my head and lean back.

I try to remember not to do this in public but it's so instinctive. I don't even mean to do it, but my fiance thinks it's funny. But at least I have a pretty easy signal to recognize.

I gained about 2 lbs back but lost it quickly once I switched from eating mashed potatoes to eating scrambled eggs and other South Beach diet idea. Just remember stick to the Protein, drink Water and exercise and you should minimize initial weight gain.

Good luck!

I usually feel like I swallowed a golfball and I have to get up and stretch or move around. But sometimes I just look at how much I have had and just stop.

I guess it's different for everyone. My "full" feeling doesn't feel at all like it did before banding.

I'm still struggling with this as well. I actually posted a thread about it a few months ago. I realize that when I am SATISFIED, I instinctively PAUSE before I put another bite into my mouth... MY major problem (and most of our problems I'd guess) is LISTENING to my body's signals and stop eating. I find it very difficult to do when there is more food on my plate -- which is a constant problem because I go out to eat a lot to really, really nice restaurants (i.e., $80 an entree) for business dinners... well, you can't tell the waiter "oh please only give me half a serving" because it's embarrassing at a work function and it's also not seen as very "classy." Anyway, my body DOES give soft stop signals, I just have to learn to listen to them.

As for gaining weight after the liquid diet -- ABSOLUTELY! I had only lost about 16 pounds and I ended up gaining back 6 of them! EEK!!! I remember how much that sucked! It's pretty normal though... especially if you don't have too much to lose I think... (not that 60 pounds isn't a lot to lose IMHO, but a lot of folks here are working with larger goals). But yes, you will probably gain back some of that weight (unless you have amazing willpower!) but it will come back off once you get the fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
