Balancing my own emotions

Recommended Posts

I am having troubles balancing my emotions and challenges at the moment. I am not sure how to deal with someone in my life. They say things that deep down I know they mean well, but they say them in a way that just twists me the wrong way. It hurts my feeling then I get mad. I am emotional eating lately and it's not helping

No, no, no. People know exactly what they are saying and how you will react. If people "mean well", they say well. Don't let someone control your actions and reactions. You cannot control what people say but you have total power of how you will react. Could it be that this person would like to see you fail? Be strong...you are your own best friend.

Kathy is SO right!

I don't buy the whole "oh they mean well" crap. Unless they're completely socially inept and a total moron, they know exactly what they're saying and they see how it effects you. When someone says "oh they mean well" they're doing nothing but maxing excuses for poor behavior.

I don't know who this person or how close they are to you, but if this person makes this a habit then perhaps it's time to get some distance from them. You don't need toxic people in your life.

Best wishes and hang in there.

Don't give them the power to control you. This isn't easy I have always wanted approval from those around me, but as I get older I find that as long as I am happy with myself I could care less what they thing. You know since I have taken on this thought process I seem to have more friends and enjoy life more.

I completely understand I have an imediate family member doing the same thing right now. I think its because deep down my weight loss is stirring up his own weight issues and insecruitys. My hubby has told me dont call him if he calls you talk but try to blow it off.... so now I normally answer the phone get mad then go to the gym to blow it off( I will succeed despite the snide remarks) Keep you chin up and find something other than food to turn to :)

Ashly Kathy worded it perfect, however I will like to add that for the sake of your own growth "tell the person exactly how you feel" . And stay in complete control of your temper when doing so. I had to tell someone today point blank that my surgery was not going to be the topic of conversation every time we had lunch, and it was not awkward at all, on the contrary. Hope you the best.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
