Forbidden Foods (or ones that make you hurt)

Recommended Posts

No more steak, anything breaded, chicken, Pasta, tuna :grouphug:

I can eat salads, Beans, Soups, grits, oatmeal, ice cream, yogurt etc...

I still have hamburgers but without bread and the fries. I have turned into a Soup girl! If I go out to dinner with my family or friends, I tell them that the restaurant has to have soup or it's a NO! My mother never really realized what I can and can't get down until Easter Sunday and I wasn't eating the ribs, chicken or sausage...only the grilled veggies and beans were on my plate. C'est la Vie :phanvan .

bread. any bread. It hurts every time.

I'm glad to have this band, but sometimes I just want to sit down and eat and not worry about hurting or chewing so much.

We eat out alot and since I love Mexican food, I have learned that hamburger meat works out well in the entree and no Beans or rice. Soup and salad always work well and broiled or grilled fish goes down well every time. I am just learning that I'm not getting cheated by ordering small to be small. I am so used to ordering a huge portion, it has taken months to adust to the portion that is right for me now. I love veggies and most go down fine if soft cooked. After many unpleasant trips to "the best restrooms in town", I am forced to accept the fact that I can no longer eat the way I used to, and that's what it's all about right? I do get jealous of my thin husband's eating habits sometimes. He sits every night and devours whole boxes of cupcakes, potato chips, etc., and suffers only from indigestion. Oh well, luck of the draw I guess. I inherited a very different type of metabolism. I love the possibilities the band offers and I intend to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity and step into a new life and off of the judgemental scale of failure. Take care and see ya!

I have to ban all the things I had to ban before, Cookies, chocolate, chips. They all go through easy peasy.

I can eat all healthy foods but I notice I'm ever so slightly tighter in the evening and often have to eat dinner very slowly or I block up and have discomfort.

And I have to ban entirely eating between lunch and dinnertime becuase I find I'm like a baby - if I spoil my appetite, I cant eat my dinner, and this is a problem because its generally a pretty nutritious meal containing lots of veges of which I eat few during the daytime.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
