No one losses massive lbs of fat post surgery. Most all of the weight lost is Water weight. Some of us did not have to go on a pre op diet so we lost a lot of Water weight post surgery. If you lost a lot of weight presurgery, you probably won't lose much post. Unless, you have a lot to lose. Someone who is 200 lbs overweight can drop 50 lbs of excess fluids shortly after surgery. You don't seem to have to lose as much so I wouldn't expect you would lose a lot of fluids post surgery.

This is a long journey and what you lose now makes little difference. Relax and don't compare yourself to anyone else. Compare yourself to you before sugery.

it will be a while before weight loss you have to heal first then you work on how to do it then fills are done every 2-4 wks till you get to where you aren't hungry for 4-5 you have a ways to go you need to read that part also.

I didn't do a pre op diet like i was suppose to. But i got banded the 16th of april which was tuesday and i lost already 3lbs. It depends whether you did a pre-op diet or not. If you did then you will loose slowly, if you didn't then prepare your self because you will be loosing a lot soon.

I did do a pre op diet I would imagine everyone needs to do a pre op diet or should but I lost only 6 lbs before surgery

Not every doctor gives a pre op diet. I was suppose to follow a two week pre op liquid diet but i didn't do that. Therefore i didn't loose anything.

Another thing to remember, and i remind myself this all the time, is that the people who are losing SO much more weight than me probably had more weight to lose from the start. someone weighing 244 lbs (like me) will lose a lot slower in the begining than someone who weighs 400 lbs

They weighed me in surgery morning I weighed in at 244 and now weigh 240 so I guess I will be losing slowly as well

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
