wolsja 0 Posted April 22, 2013 Did everyone get the latest email from CIBO? If not here is a copy and paste... ... Dear CIBO Patients, Over the past few days we have tried to contact CIBO Patients. We are very saddened to announce that CIBO Clinic has been forced into receivership. Due to financial difficulties, we are no longer able to operate. Due to the unfortunate closure of the clinic a number of former staff members have voluntarily banded together to help provide care for the patients they serviced while employed by the clinic. Staff members are acting on their own accord, apart from previous management, to provide these additional services because they care. Patients should know that despite CIBO’s closure you are not “Orphaned” as some of the other clinics have led some of you to believe. Your surgeons are still available and responsible for your medical care. As you will read below, there is support being planned for you. We appreciate your support and patience while we “set things up” but wanted to provide an outline for your information. Medical Care Dr. Dennis Hong and Dr. Nalin Amin are still in charge of your medical care in the event that you experience complications or are in need of band related medical care. The emergency line is still active to support you at 647-297-8044. Dr. Hong and Dr. Amin operate out of St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton, ON. Patient Information - Google Docs We will be setting up a calendar and other materials and resources for your care on Google Docs. You will need a Google Gmail Account and we ask that you set one up and email it to us at ¬¬¬cibopatients@gmail.com. You will then be added to the group. Fills In-Town Patients Under the direction of Dr. Hong and Dr. Amin, fills will be provided in the short to medium term free of charge. The cost of these fills will initially be covered personally by your doctors. The location(s) will be determined shortly. We will be posting on the central calendar the location(s) and dates as they are determined. We will also be available onsite to provide guidance for patients requiring advice on fill volume and other band related issues. Out-of-Town Patients There will be minimal changes to the protocol for obtaining a fill. We are available to provide guidance for patients requiring advice on fill volume. Please email for direction. Patients will be assuming the cost for these fills. Post-Operative Care Patient support will be available and group support meetings are being organized in conjunction with fills. Nisrine will continue to provide patient care support. You can reach her at cibopatients@gmail.com Dr. Jennifer Walsh remains available by email if you need support. You can reach her at drjenniferwalsh@gmail.com Emergency Line – 647-297-8044 At the moment our biggest obstacle is finding appropriate locations. If you have access to a location free of charge please let us know.
LooLooMac 3 Posted April 23, 2013 I am in shock, and quite scared. I really feel for those of you who have only just had your surgery! You must feel frightened and alone. Please feel free to connect with me if you want support! I'm scared too, but, at least if we join together we can support each other. 1 thehardway reacted to this
Kay Bee 0 Posted April 27, 2013 I had my surgery on March 25 as well and was set for my post op appointments and first fill on April 22. I'm also extremely upset and feeling like I've been taken advantage of. It took me well over a year to decide to have this procedure and at least 4 months of research before I decided to go with CIBO. I thought I was spending the extra money for extra support and care with a clinic that would put my health first. I'll be joining the Facebook group tonight. **Latest Email from CIBO: Dear CIBO Patients, We’ve found a location to hold our first group meeting. St. Bonaventure Church hall Address: 1300 Leslie Street, Toronto, ON Date: Wednesday, May 1, 2013 Time: 7pm to 9pm RSVP: Please email us back to sign up. Space is limited so this meeting will be for patients only. The driveway is shared with the school and there is parking behind the building. We look forward to seeing you and helping you to continue on your weight loss journey. We expect to have a calendar for fills at the meeting and will begin to schedule appointments for those. ............................ I understand that people have also lost their jobs, my devastation does not take anything away from theirs. I have emailed the gmail account and the original CIBO addresses since 5am this morning and I have not received a response. I'm glad you have spoken to Nisrine and have a sense of peace, I however have not had a post op appointment, don't have a family doctor and feel completely abandoned. I had this surgery 3 weeks and 3 days ago....on that day somebody knew they were going into receivership and that makes me very upset I also just had this surgery on March 25 and was scheduled for mr post - op and first fill on April 25. I feel abandoned at this point and hope that CIBO is being honest about what they said in the email
TO-Banded 0 Posted April 28, 2013 Hello I don't even know what I feel about this whole situation! Sadness, anger, confusion? I am thankful there will be a group meeting though; the funny thing is that since getting the band I had been hoping cibo would offer some kind of group like I had read about for other surgeons! Who knows, maybe something positive will come from all this. Does anyone know how often or where will they be doing fills?
lexx 20 Posted April 29, 2013 I have requested to be added to the Facebook page.

lexx 20 Posted April 29, 2013 I am going to the meeting! Who else is attended. I think now would be the time to get to know some of you maybe meet a couple minutes wore the meeting. In pretty certain by the last email we won't be getting any answers about next steps rather just restrictions. My question is why should we continue to pay for something that is no loner being services to us. Apparently fills will be free of charge but really how Long can we expect these surgeons to volunteer??? I would rather be except and cu my losses with this clinic and no longer pay and go somewhere else. So frustrated!!!!!
MarleneC 0 Posted May 10, 2013 Hi All, I'm writing on behalf of my mum who had the procedure done at CIBO one year ago - this is a total nightmare! Nobody called or tried to contact her, she found out by calling yesterday to make a fill appointment. The whole family is LIVID. My mum suffered a heart attack while having her lapband procedure done and was taken out of the CIBO clinic by ambulance....needless to say we are just thankful she's alive, but this place has been a nightmare from the beginning. I'd love to band together and do something about this.
Kay Bee 0 Posted May 12, 2013 If you're a CIBO patient, consider joining the CIBO Patients First Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/?sk=welcome#!/groups/CIBOpatientsfirst/ This group forum aims to provide a supportive and positive private environment where ideas, concerns and, yes, sometimes frustrations can be shared.
