I was banded on 3/28 and my surgeon won't tell me what size my band is. He says it's so I don't focus on the size, fills, etc. I can understand that but shouldn't I know in case of emergency?? Anyone else's dr do this?

I was given the box for mine and it says lapband ap standard. After looking it up mine looks to be like 10cc's. can you look yours up too?

I have no info. on my mine either. When I go back for my fill I'm definitely finding this out.

I've never asked what size my band is but when I went in for my first fill, which was done under fluoroscopy, I asked how many cc's he was giving me and he said he doesn't have an exact number, he just watches and sees how much restriction he thinks I need.

I trust my surgeon completely. However, I still feel like I need to know for emergencies. I go for my first fill on the 30th so I'll prob bring it up again. Never got a box or anything regarding the band.

I received a Welcome Packet when I received the band. In it, it stated it was a standard lapband (which holds 10cc's). Maybe try asking for that packet. It comes with a card that has a regiatration number and info. Also, the card is good to carry...some resteraunt's honor it so you can order a child's plate.

I could understand what he means by that. I mean, knowing what size band you have could make you start comparing yourself to others with the same size band (they have 5cc you have 6, so where's your restriction sort of thing). However, I would also insist on finding out because this is something implanted in your body and you have every right to know every detail of this foreign object!

100% agree with this!

I registered mine on the My LapBand website and now have a card with its ID#. That way if there's ever a recall on the band I don't have to rely on the doctor telling me.

when i started this process last year, i heard people saying realize band and allergen and 4cc and 10 cc size etc......so i asked my dr....he told me..i dont see it as a big deal. i agree with miss, ask the dr and get the answer you seek. do not take no for the answer. you are the patient and (he) works for you.

My surgeon used a Allegan 144cc omniform lapband and he gladly told me. I paid for it, so I wanted the information.

Best wishes

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
