I'm nearly 1.5 years out and my port area protrudes and if pushed against a counter or something hard, it's very uncomfortable. sleeping is no problem since we have a pillowtop mattress.

My port area was very sensitive for about 6 months but is much less now, so time willing, the discomfort should improve?

I guess you can look at the up side

sleeping on your stomach/face causes wrinkles (not that this is a problem for you, you're really very lovely)

but for every night you can't sleep on your stomach, maybe another day between you and those pesky lines!!LOL :)

Good luck I really do hope this works itself out for you and you can feel better soon!

Is it the pressure against the port? Or, is it the fact it's rubbing on something and the skin is irritated?

Being sleep deprived really sucks.

LOL...B, I could never get away with the wrinkle comments :P But yes, she is lovely isn't she. Looking forward to the after photos!!

It hurts but from inside. It was a lot worse and gradually getting better. But I miss holding my hubby at nite. :( maybe we'll have to rearrange our room because I can turn on the opposite. Side where the port is not. Maybe soon it will get better

I'm 27 days out too and I slept on my stomach for the first time last night. Things were ok for a while but I noticed that I woke up a lot to turn because it became uncomfortable. It's getting easier to sleep on my side and stomach but not completely comfortable yet, hopefully soon :)

I cannot lay on my stomach yet either! (Banded 3-21-13.) It is uncomfy- but, I dont sleep on stomach, so doesnt bother me. I have had issues with turning as well..just have to go slow! (2 csections have trained me for this part. Lol) i also prop a pillow under my side that im laying on to alleviate some of the pressure.

Hope it gets more comfy for you!

P.S.- maybe its time for Hubbs to turn around and cuddle you. :-D . Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
