Bad idea..? And no full feeling

Recommended Posts

So basically I had a small piece of cake and a 1/3 cup of ice cream. Felt unbelievably guilty afterwards... I know it wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done... No bashing please

I've been banded since 02/11/13 so not to long but I'm at 5cc's and since about a week after surgery I haven't felt that "full" feeling!? I'm guessing its because I'm chewing so well that it slips right through? No idea kinda nervous but I'm still eating about a cup whether I feel full or not. I guess what I'm saying is that I feel like I could eat more then a cup. Normal?

Normal, your swelling has gone down and you are in "bandster hell". Search on it, you will find a lot of useful information.

First, don't feel guilty for eating like a "normal" healthy person. You have a small piece of cake not an entire cake. You didn't do anything wrong. There is nothing wrong with the occasional treat once in awhile in moderation.

You shouldn't be looking for a "full" feeling at all, actually. In fact, if you're eating until you're full you're likely eating too much. There is a difference between feeling satisfied and full- what banded people should be striving for is satisfied.

As far as being able to eat more than a cup- most people could if they really want to. You have to realize the band isn't meant to physically stop you from eating. It will always be your job to do. This is why it's so important to stick to a cup or less of food so you don't accidentally over eat.

Have a look at this link, I think it'll really help clarify things for you a lot: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

Best wishes

put your Protein in your mouth first before eating anything that way no matter how well you chew it will stay in the pouch for awhile then finish the rest of your meal. A full feeling is not what you trying to get to...not hungry or the head telling you your hungry for 4 hours...and drink plenty in between meals the body will read dehydration as hunger and track and time your meals all this helps me hope it will help you.

Don't feel guilty. We are recovering addicts. Are you drinking with your meals? I have a bad habit of doing that and it pushes my food right down and I don't get full as fast. You will figure it all out soon. Good luck! Follow my lap band blog www.biscuitsandexcuses.blogspot.com

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
