I hope I'm doing this right. Hi everyone I'm new to this site and am not sure how to do this. I've been banded 2 yrs on May 3. I haven't lost as much as I would have liked but I didn't gain it either. I've had to be deflated a couple of times and there was not as much info when I got my band or maybe I didn't pay close enough attention but I was not as aggressive with my fills as I should have been. But now I've wised up a little. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with ideas on how to get off plateaus. It seems like when I get a fill I'll lose a little and then not lose anymore until my next fill. Anyway glad to be here .

Congratulations on your band. Can you give us a little personal info. How much did you weigh, how much do you weigh and do you still get fills, do you exercise......you know just a lil tiny bit of info into your life.....LOL

Welcome Aboard!

A little more background on how many fills & how much will help also. I find that when I get a fill I lose b/c its kinda like a new start. But I continue to lose if & only if I follow all the bandster rules.

When I gain its b/c I am slipping up & not following rules. I tend to get complacent(spelling?) you know lazy & relaxed. As to platueas, I think they'll always be something everyone hits & its a matter of changing ones routine till the scale moves down.

I was banded on May 3,2004 by Dr Adam Smith, he's terrific, I started out at 308 and am down to 249. I was deflated once because of an hernia at one of my incision sites (more surgery) and once because of bronchitis. Too much drainage and coughing. I go walking with my husband when time allows. I still get fills and am not at what Dr Smith calls my sweet spot just yet. I have a large band that holds 10 cc's and am at 8 right now. I have lost a lot more inches than pounds so I have dropped several sizes.

Welcome to LBT Denise!! I know Weatherford's a bit far out from Ft Worth, but we have get togethers once a month or so in the mid-cities area. We'd love to have you! Check out the Texas board for more info: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=64

With 2 unfills, you're doing great! I know what you mean about plateaus, though. I'd really like to just get this weight lost & be done with it already! :(

Do you journal what you eat? It really shocked me when I started writing it down (I use fitday.com -- the PC version). It opened my eyes & made me re-evaluate my choices. Not that I'm a saint, lol, but at least I understand why I don't lose some weeks! :Banane33:

Great job on the exercise! Inches gone are more important than weight, imo! :woot:

Welcome again! We're glad you're here!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
