Curious as to how many of you don't have any fill at all..

I had surgery 3/8/13 and went back to my first fill appointment (4-15) and he said I didn't need one at that time. Which I totally agree with. Everything has been going great. I've lost 36lbs and not hungry. Go back in a month to see him. I've read that some don't need a fill and just the band is enough. Any of you experience that??

I've personally not experienced that but I know of others who have. It all depends on your anatomy and some people are just lucky because their band alone is enough.

Btw, you're doing great on your weight loss!

Yay!! 36 pounds, fantastic!!

I was banded Dec 4 2012 and every time I go back he tells me no Irene no fill, good work and see you in a month!

My next appointment is Next Tuesday. I am in no hurry to get a fill and personally I hope I never get one. I can go at least 4-6 hours without being hungry, HUGE difference from before when I was eating 7,000 calories plus a day!!

Keep up the good work!!

I had my surgery on November 6th and still haven't had a fill. To date, I have lost over 60 lbs. I'm sure I'm going to need one because the weight is coming off slower but for right now, I am holding off. My dr has a policy. If you have lost more than four pounds in a month, no fill.

Good luck and congrats on your weight loss!

I was banded 3/11/13 an still waiting for first fill. Went to first folliw-up app. couple weeks ago an after asking me about being hungry, an how much I was eating she said to run with it for another month. Next app. is 5/2. Still maintaining weightoss of around 20 lbs. since surgery...havent gained or lost any more for awhile now but my BS numbers are drastically improved an thats the main priority for me right now so Im good with it all. :)

Banded 12/21. Down a total of 60.5 lbs. 23 on pre op diet and 47.5 since surgery. No fills, not hungry between meals and no plication. I count myself as lucky and I'm ok with that!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
