I woke up about 10 nights ago from a dead slip...choking, gagging, then throwing up. Reflux was so bad. My throat was on fire! So the next day I did liquids, made sure my meds were taken properly. Same issue that night. Then the next night. (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights). So Monday called my surgeon. Came in, she took out some Fluid. But was worried wanted to make sure I did not slip. But of course I was going out of town for a few days. So came home and scheduled with radiology. Went in today and I have slipped :( So I am having my band removed on Monday. She wants me to do the pre op diet to help shrink the liver. She took out all the fluid also.

I am super nervous...another surgery :( I am choosing not to have it replaced. I am not looking forward to recovery, I remember the pain from the first few days out last time.

I feel for ya. That has to be so disappointing? We all work and battle so hard with this band, it hurts to see a soldier go down. Keep in touch and let us know what your next journey will be?

I never had the flu, I was not sick. I would get a weird tickle in my throat if I ate or drank anything and when I would lay down it was horrible. It did not matter if I just ate o if it had been hours, every thing came back up. And I did liquids for a few days thinking I just irrated myself some how. But it was a slipped band that was causing the issue.

I did not have plication. I have decided not to do any WLS. I am about 40lbs from goal, so I am just going to keep on going with the diet and exercise. The whole surgery again thing is what I am dreading! And the last minute of it...juggling kids and hubbys duty schedule while 4500 miles away from family to help! Luckily the military families here in Alaska are like family and are so willing to help!

just realized you meant the old stomach bug from January! Yes, I had an unfill. Then some fill put back in and then within a few weeks started having issues...so yes, it may have been!

Best wishes, lorabeth, sorry that you have this issue. I, also, had a slip back in 2011, I had revision, not removal. I would not be happy without my band. Karen

Lorabeth I am so glad that they cought this in time and are removing it. Some people go a long time before is cought. Don't worry, it seems like you have a great doctor. Embrace any help that's offered to you. Sometimes when family is far our friends save us. Best of luck.

I had the flu in March and I'm thinking I slipped. I am in Alaska too - Anchorage and unfortunately my surgery was many years ago in CA so I have to wait 6 weeks to see the bariatric doc here - he's gone the entire month of July. I'm going to have a miserable 6 weeks. VERY frustrating. I want my band removed. It's been crooked for 5 year and I've limped along and now this is just the final straw for me. Time for it to go. I too am about 40 lbs from goal and I've been here forever since eating "good" food is really hard and I resort to stuff that isn't necessarily great for weight loss or health.

Lorabeth, how long have you had your band? I'm sorry you have to go through this. Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
