Barbie Girl 2 Posted April 15, 2013 I've been banded for about 4 years. I truly struggle with my daily diet. you know, what to eat, what not to eat? I have no problems taking my Protein Shakes, it's really just a problem planning regular meals. I typically get stuck with any kind of meats (with the exception of ground turkey). Soups either are too high in calories or unsatisfying. Call me crazy, buy prefer to chew my food. Yogurt and puddings are not constantly on my grocery list. So, my question is: what do you typically eat in a day? recipes are welcome (with the understanding I can't eat chicken ect.). I call that "dinner and a show!" 2muchfun 8,927 Posted April 15, 2013 If you can consume, swallow and pass shakes, Soups, yogurt etc. then you may not be chewing enough or taking small bites? The trick to eating meat and veggies is to eat very small bites, chew a lot, take a few breaths between swallows(not bites) before taking the next bite. You must chew the food to a mush(Soup like) consistency to avoid getting stuck. So, if soups go through just fine, then why do other solids stick? Not chewed enough? You could very well be a little too tight too. If you can't adhere to the chewing routine then have a little removed. Maybe .1-.25 CCs? tmf 1 mrsto reacted to this
mrsto 2,925 Posted April 15, 2013 I just starting eating animal Protein, but only ground meats, chicken, white fish and thinly sliced deli meats. 2muchfun pretty much covered the eating part, but I'll share one thing that I've been eating the last few days. I'm just THRILLED to be eating ground meat!! I was starting to flip out without it I brown ground turkey & drain it. I add a can of refried Beans and a can of black Beans. Cook all together for a little while longer until everything is hot. Sometimes I'll put a couple tablespoons of melted cheddar (1/2 oz) on the top. YUM! I've got my husband strung out on it, too :-) I found that this mix not only tastes really good, but it goes down really easy. I tried some grilled trout when we went out to eat, and though it didn't get stuck, I just didn't feel very good after. If ground turkey works, there are a ton of recipes you can make with it, including spaghetti sauce with turkey meatballs. Or, tacos made with turkey. I'm just trying to think of flavorful things you can improvise with. I've been pretty boring lately, but as I get used to this new eating life, I'll be like Chefboyar-mrsinto in the kitchen - LOL! CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted April 15, 2013 Talk to a nutritionist. A life of nothing but soft or ground foods sounds tortuous. It sounds like too big a bite or too much fill. 1 2muchfun reacted to this

♕ajtexas♕ 3,771 Posted April 15, 2013 There are a lot of great food recipes and recommendations in the food & Nutrition forum. Also, a lot of us use MyFtinessPal to track their food and share their diary with friends. I am user: ajtexas0, feel free to add me as a friend & you will see what my days are like. I plan my dinners a week at a time so I can do my grocery shopping, then I make my lunch for work the night before. So the only thing not planned is Breakfast & that is usually eggs or oatmeal. The best advise I have is get a notebook & plan days of meals out. When they are written sown and your in a slump, don't know what to plan, you can look back for ideas. It works for me! 1 2muchfun reacted to this

grownazzkid 206 Posted April 15, 2013 I like to do single pot type meals... for instance, I will make a spagetti sauce with groung turkey, fresh Tomato, mushrooms, onion, black olives, & bell pepper - have a scoop of that, no Pasta though, but you could if you wanted to I guess. This week I made something of a burrito filling - ground beef (93% lean), tomato, onion, ciantro, and pinto Beans with jalapenos. And another favorite is a Chipolte type bowl with grilled boneless/skinless chicken thighs (diced up), mix with some black Beans, onion, and a your favorite salsa. You can, of course supplement chicken for ground beef/turkey. 1 charly reacted to this
Trisaddi 21 Posted April 15, 2013 I have found that the days I get high Protein (60g or more) I am not hungry at all and don't snack and pick. My diet mostly consists of cottage cheese, greek key lime yogurt with graham crackers, unsweetened tea with stevia sweetener and usually a few bites of whatever I made for dinner for everyone else. When I'm eating out I either get a bean burrito or a snack wrap. When I'm craving something sweet I have an Adkins Protein snack bar. I always make protein my 1st course! 1 2muchfun reacted to this
