I went to Malley's and really liked it. I had Dr. Fearing, and she was great!

I seen a post a while back that someone that had gone there and had my old surgeon as hers. Dr. C. Thomas Hitchcock who was with Malley and did my lapband. I really liked him and I did real well with him. I've read good and bad post regarding Weight Loss Surgical Center and can't say what their policy is, but know their fills are more expensive. Do make sure that they check your band occasionally. Malley's NP, who started to do my fills after Dr. H left, didn't have mine checked and just did blind fills. It wasn't until I switched doctors, for personal reasons, that I found mine had slipped. They could have put my life in danger by not doing this because I've not had any issues at all. Had I not seen the band I still wouldn't believe it had slipped. So new doctor is getting approval from insurance for "urgent removal". So make sure wherever you go, just to have your band checked. Just my thoughts.

Sorry to hear that! I do not care for her NP either, and you are not the first person who has said this. I wonder why she is still there if so many are unhappy with her. My doctor told me to only see her from now on.

Thank you. When they told me Dr. H. was no longer there, they did give me the option of either Dr. Malley, Dr. Fearing, or Karen. Because of my work schedule and days off it was easier to get in with Karen, thinking she was working under the two them and giving the same treatment as they would. Why they don't get rid of her is because that is all she does is fills which brings in about $160 if not more every 15 minutes. Not bad for a few cc's of saline. But in some ways I blame the clinic. I was never educated on not what to do to avoid my situation since a slipped band is common. Actually still don't know, but whatever caused it was probably my fault. Now another surgery for removal, which is not a choice but a must, then three months of weight management (with me not an issue), then another surgery for the RNY. I don't know if Dr. Fearing does blind fills, and if she does that is okay, but stay on top of it and not be afraid to ask them to check the band under fluroscope (sp). It might just avoid a lot of complications later, especially if you never have any issues like me and never realized it occurred. Also an FYI, I love my band and very sad it has to come out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
