I'm six days post op . It seems like I get over one pain or discomfort and a different one starts. Pain on my left side and port area seem to be the new thing. I'm still having the gurgling upset stomach. The diarrhea has subsided...finally. I feel like im somewhat short of breath. What a long six days its been so far!

It takes 4-6 wks to fully heal, so having different pains isn't abnormal. It really shouldn't be a pain, but more discomfort.

Anything that freaks you out, you should call your Drs office. They are paid to see you through this, so don't feel you're bothering them.

Did you have hernia repair too?

As a group we , me so included are calling our surgeon often enough. They are the experts on the and all the concerns we have. I sure didn't and learned the hard they are there to help us with everything, their staff usually has been banded themselves (at least mine do) always give them a call.

First of all Congratulations on your new band!!!

I'm 10 days post op my stomach gurgles all day, I dont have an upset stomach unless I drink to much of a shake or something heavy I've realized I can only handle 1/4 cup of anything not clear. and all my incisions take turns stinging, itching and being tender.

But our bodies have just had surgery....it's gonna be tender, and sore it has to heal.

we've changed what we're eating our bodies will rebel a little most people have diarrhea or Constipation.< /p>

and I too have noticed the shortness of breath first thing in the morning. I am under the impression that all these things are normal. If your worried you should ask your dr. ;)

but remember too, we can't start eating (real) food for 4-6 weeks depending on your dr. it's not to mean but so that we can heal, it really can/does take that long.

be patient it does get better everyday. Good luck :)

Give your body a little time to adjust. I wouldn't worry but you know you body better than anybody. If you think you need to , call your doctor. Thats what they get paid for. lol! Good luck on your journey. Follow my lap band blog www.biscuitsandexcuses.blogspot.com

I did not have a hernia repair. Thanks for the comments and input. It's a new learning experience all the way around. Im learning that my body needs more time to heal than it use to! I'm definitely getting more in tuned with my body. Can't wait to start feeling better and start losing!!

I'm a little over three weeks since my surgery and my port pain finally has subsided. I was just just like you, thinking yes this pain is gone, then something else starts up. It will get better, just takes time :) Congratulations on starting this journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
