What to take for general aches and pains?

Recommended Posts

On occasion I get some back and knee pain. Since I hate the way crushed pills taste, does anyone have any suggestions for a sublingual type of pain reliever or liquid pain medication. All I can think of is children's tylonol. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Same like Missy

I take everything the same as before surgery

But ask your doctor because some don't like when their patients take ibuprofen

In the baby/children section at Longs (CVS) stores they sell children Ibuprofen in liquid form with a bubble gum flavor. You have to at least double the dosage to work on an adult. Ask the pharmacy helpers.

I use to use apple sauce to mask off most yucky crushed pills.

Depends...at my age I am prone to bursitis and maybe a touch of arthritis....I Take 4gm of Omega 3 fish oil capsules...Rx, not over the counter, for joint....

I have access to a sauna and whirlpool which I use with every workout, 30 minutes sauna, 15 minutes whirlpool......I also run 5 miles a day and lift weights 2-3 times a week.

I'm 61-1/2 years old.....going on 35 after the WLS.....

I also take a baby aspirin every day...don't know if that helps..I take it because I have had a heart attack a few years back, before all this new life style began. I'llk also be on blood thinners for the rest of my life.....

I am able to either take pills or children's liquid. My dr prefers I do the liquid or actually come to think of it there is also children's chewable.< /p>

i buy the CVS/Walmart brand of liquid tylenol to take for aches/pains/PMS...i am scared of taking a big pill so i just stick with liquid.. (i do have caplets in my purse and those go down ok when i do take them). i think its just a preference really.

I was told I could take capsules and caplets and some pills as long as they aren't bigger then the tip of my pinky. I usually take Tylenol in caplet form and it's fine. I do only take one at a time though.

I used to take the Aleve liquid gels, and I'm afraid they are too big.

My doctor said no NSAID's (ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, etc.) so I take Tylenol. Right after I was banded I used children's liquid Tylenol but now I'm able to use the regular pills.< /p>

My doctor also said no NSAIDS. I have seen some who do them, but many also take a beta blocker to protect the stomach. Tylenol works for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
