Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if insurance pays for all of the fills if they pay for the initial surgery. I have Tricare/United Military insurance

I have Aetna in Illinois and fills are covered by mine.

I would call and ask your insurance company. I have BCBS and pay $25 copay for fills.

Every insurance and doctors have different ways. The best thing is for you to check with your insurance or you doctor's office.

As stated above, you will need to contact your insurnace and your doctor's office. My surgeon inclued office visits and fills for the first 90 days in his surgery fee, but I've heard of other clinics that include fills for the first year.

After the first 90 days with my surgeon, I just have to pay my office visit copay.

My surgeon also included rechecks and fills for the first 90 days post surgery, and I just found out that my Federal BCBS will pay all buy the co-pay of $35. (I did not check previously because I figured I was going to have to get fills whether they are covered or not...) I also kind of thought that at least something would be covered if the surgery is, they wouldn't just leave you hanging like that, right? But still, you should call and find out.

I used to have tricare now I have ChampVA. I was wondering the same thing about the fills. It would seem like they would pay something. But I guess I'll have to call my insurance on Monday to be sure. Good Luck and I hope they pay it for you. I know it can be expensive. If I have to pay out of pocket it is 150.00

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
