Surgery Date August 28

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am new to this site. My surgery date is (tentatively) set for August 28. I am excited yet nervous. You hear more success stories than negative stories, but I still cant help but have a nervous reaction/worry to the 'what ifs'....anyone else?

Hi all! My date is 8/14. I thought I was the only nervous one. I'm excited also but it's kind of scary.

I was August 2nd, yesterday! I can say that all the worry and nervousness is unnecessary now that I'm on this side of it. The gas pain is all but gone already. What they say about walking it out is exactly right on. Obviously, my incisions are a little sore, but nothing bad. I think the most annoying thing for me is that the little incision the did in my navel keeps rebleeding every time I bend at the weight or sit up straight. I just it is just pressure on it. Ruined a shirt cuz I didn't realize it at first. All that to say it was not near as bad as I worked it up in my brain to be

Hi everyone, I'm an August bander too! I had surgery on the 22nd and here am two days later. I'm really sore (feels like I just did a super amount of push-ups). My biggest incision which I'm assuming is where the port was placed hurts quite a bit but all is well. I was able to walk around a lot and even drive. I'm thanking God the whole way! Without Him I probably would be in worse pain than I'm in now and way more miserable so it's great! I hope it gets better from here and not worse. My doctor is awesome so I know he will take care of me. I definitely second guessed everything yesterday when the pain was the worst. Does it hurt when they fill the lapband?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
