Extra attention, extra confidence

Recommended Posts

What a life changing experience having my Lap-Band has been!! I have lost 110lbs since being banded July 23. People have said I don't even look like the same person. Although, I always see the inner fat girl, haha. I have been obese since childhood & I haven't always had much self-confidence. The last 2 months or so, I have noticed an increase in attention from many of my male co-workers. I am blown away by the increase in this extra attention & honestly, I am loving it!!! It gives me such a boost of confidence & I start thinking, "maybe I am good looking!" lol.

I am not sure how big my band is. I got a 2.5cc fill once when I was 6 wks post op. I haven't had any other fills. The nurse practicioner at my surgeons office said I am essentially going on sheer will power. She said as long as I keep losing, I won't get a fill & once my weight loss slows down then I can utilize fills for weight loss.

Hi, all! @ twittlingann, did you have to pay for the band yourself or did insurance cover it?

@twittlingann, im hoping it happens that quickly for me, too! From the looks of your stats, you and i seem to be starting at the same place and have the same goal! Did you have to pay the 20% up front or are they working with you as far as a payment plan?

I do not yet have a surgery date. I go in for the seminar next Tuesday at 6:00pm and I'm hoping that from there, everything is smooth. I already know I qualify for the surgery. I went over everything with my insurance company today and it's pretty cut and dry. My issue really is going to be two things. Whether or not they are going to make me do a 6 month pre-op diet (which I'm praying they don't. My insurance company said they should not) and whether or not they will work with me for the 20%. I am so nervous but I am such an avid exerciser and I know how to eat but I just have not been able to lose this weight :-( I just ran a half marathon at Disney World in Orlando in February. With the way I exercise, I should look like a friggin toothpick. I have no thyroid issues or any other medical issues that are causing me to gain weight. But this weight is really hurting me. I can't sleep without my hands and arms getting numb at night. The constant acid reflux, I can't even shave my legs without getting out of breath anymore. I feel like such an embarrassment to my hubby and my kids. They are so great and always tell me that I'm beautiful. But I don't even look like myself anymore. Before my first husband died (11 years ago), I was in great shape. And after he passed, I just let myself go slowly but surely.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
