drehn88 251 Posted May 7, 2013 May 17th cant get here soon enough. Pre op diet is going good so far. Any suggestions for the post op phase I posted this on another topic. I bought a bunch of chicken broth and it tastes gross. My suggestion is to get regular cans of Soup and drain the liquid. Much better tasting. You will waste a lot of noodles, but it's worth it to me. I finally bought some Muscle Milk chocolate. Wow, that tastes a lot better than other Protein Shakes. It has more carbs and calories, but during the post op stage you won't be taking in very many calories anyway. Good luck! 1 jenn0528 reacted to this
lolarose13 147 Posted May 7, 2013 An update: I just received a phone call from the doctor's office with the results of my EGD yesterday. I do have a hernia, so they are going to fix it on Friday with the band. The good thing is that my insurance will pay for that, so the whole procedure now is almost half the original price! Any recommendation regarding the hernia? I'm just concerned to be more painful, etc. 1 Mandi1441 reacted to this

You will also become easily winded. I recommend try to sleep sitting up, if you have a recliner that's best. Take your time walking or trying to get around, because it will be hard to catch your breath. A heating pad also helps. Lots of rest. Take your pain meds they will help you rest. Good luck with surgery and a speedy recovery.

All I know is, I can't cough, I can't laugh, and I can't sneeze without experiencing severe pain. Trying not to take Percocet they sent me home with, I got up in the middle of the night and took Tylenol. Helped for a little bit. I'm sure it will get better. Good luck! The medicine they gave me helps for about a hour-still in pain just not as bad for that hour then it's back. I've been walking non stop pretty much and the shoulder pain won't go away

I've been walking non stop pretty much and the shoulder pain won't go away I didn't have a hernia repair, but the left side of my abdomen feels like I have a pulled muscle. The pain can be pretty intense without the pain meds. My shoulder hurts once in awhile and putting the heating pad on it really works. I keep the heating pad on my abdomen (trying to not put it on my incisions) throughout the day, taking it off every once in awhile. I'm really hoping I wake up tomorrow or Friday with less pain. I hope you do too. 1 AngCal reacted to this

drehn88 251 Posted May 8, 2013 I went to work today had my band on Thur. and the pain in my left shoulder hurts so BAD!! Sorry your shoulder hurts, and at work no less! Can you take a heating pad to work? I thought I would be ready to work 4 days post op, but I don't see that happening. Glad I got things done at work through Friday so I can wait until Monday to go back. Hope you start feeling better!
_new_beginnings_ 1 Posted May 8, 2013 I was just scheduled for May 29th in NY. My pre-op diets starts in a week. I'm most concerned about my mood (I teach high schoolers all day and they're tough now lol) and being hungry during the liquid phase. I was hoping for a quicker recovery with the single incision procedure but because of my BMI and torso length the doc said it has to be the 5 incision. UGH. My nerves are starting to come out....anyone else scheduled for the end of May?

My nerves are starting to come out....anyone else scheduled for the end of May? I was definitely pretty irritable during my pre-op, but If you work with high school kids you have more patience than me already Eventually my hunger essentially faded. I told my wife that my stomach gave up its hope for filling food Lol. I had the surgery with 5 incisions on Monday (you can see pics 48 hours post-op under post-op forum, I posted it tonight). Honestly the only incision site that hurts is the main one above my belly button where the port is. My son accidentally pushed on one of the others and I didn't feel a thing. But, if he would have pushed off of the port site I might shed a tear Lol 1 AngCal reacted to this
AmandaMarie 11 Posted May 9, 2013 I'm tomorrow, May 9th. Didn't have to do the pre-op, but had a light meal this evening. No food or drink at midnight. I'm anxious, as my boyfriend pointing out, I'm doing a lot of "nesting" activities. He's at least supportive. I will keep you posted.
