Any bandings in May????

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on May 10th! Still sore, swollen ,and bruised. I havent lost anything yet but I think thats because I am so swollen. I did go back to work yesterday, the 13th

I have 10 days of Clear liquids, 10 days of full liquids, then 10 days of pureed food. then after day 30 I am good to go.

Tired of broth already. It all tastes so salty to me!

Hi daisy! We are band-sisters! I got banded the same day! I'm feeling good but I couldn't make it at work today because I was getting really nauseous and I can not concentrate like that! So I'm taking tomorrow off as well. Last night my hubby got me wonton Soup for dinner (only the broth) from a Chinise restaurant, it was delicious!

My surgery is set for May 20th. I am into the second week of the pre-op diet. It's been hard but I have stayed true to it. Ive lost five pounds and feel pretty good. I have to say that I am very nervous about the actual surgery. I've never had general surgery before and I trying to stay relaxed about it. I suffer from anxiety. Any good words of advice would greatly be appreciated.

LizzyTish,

My doctor offered me something at the hospital if I wanted it for the anxiety. I think many of them do.

You will do great! Ask your doc for something for anxiety, I'm sure he will provide something. It is normal to be nervous. Just know that this is the start to a healthier life and remember why you are doing it!! Good luck!!

I am scheduled for May 24th in Toronto - pre Op diet is going ok - I won't say I have been perfect but it is without a doubt a big change in how I eat

Got my band in yesterday and feeling a lot better than I expected. Turns out I had a rather sizeable hiatal hernia (which never bothered me), so that was fixed as well. I asked for (and received) a scopolamine patch to ward off any nausea prior to surgery. I'm also taking my pain meds (ugh, horrible taste), don't believe in needless suffering.

Considering that my very first step towards this surgery was only on March 18th, I'm still trying to get my head around the whole thing...yep, I really did it. My surgeon put in a 10cc band and filled with 2.5cc during surgery (which will hopefully keep bandster hell at bay) and my incisions are TINY. Been drinking Water and Protein shakes (premier Protein from Costco) and overall very happy. I have a speaking engagement for work next Tuesday at a site about 3 hrs' drive from my home and am cautiosly optimistic that I can honor it. Overall, thrilled with the way it all worked out!

I'm scheduled for tomorrow and I wasn't perfect on my preop either... But enough to lose 15 lbs. liquid diet today has been CRAZY... I found the boxed broth for cooking is really gross to eat, so drank the broth from a cup of noodles and vegetable soup/chicken noodle! And SF Jello really helped too..

Well here I am, on the other side.... Was banded this morning and am doing great. The worst part was my throat hurt terrible from the breathing tube, but SF Popsicles and cold water/juice helped... Been keeping the heating pad on my shoulder as feels a little achy. But an also staying ahead of pain with meds and gas-x. Also been up a lot... I hoping the next few days are MILF as well!!! Thanks for all of you who went before me for sharing.... It really encouraged me and helped my fear of the unknown!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
