New But I do Have a Date Set

Recommended Posts

I am new to this site. I am looking for support from others. I have been on other forums that are band bashing/ haters. I am not sure why, maybe they did not like the rules or could not stick to it. I know this will not be a quick fix but I am now worried that I will have kinds of trouble! It only took me weeks to get my hubby to agree with me to have this done, and now I am not so sure. HELP!

We have a few band bashers. Their problem is that facts are not on their side so they use hyperbole and opinions to support their claims. You will find support, advice and guidance here. Your doctor should always be your first source for diet requirements, pre and post op dietary plans, pain and fill questions?

We have hundreds of successful bandsters here. We have just as many who are struggling but come here for advice. Good luck on your journey and don't fear because you won't be alone.

Hello Pkchop... This is a great site for advice and support from successful bandsters and even some who weren't as successful. It is a lot of great information available to you on this sight and it will help you along the way. I like some of the photos as well, sometimes seeing somebody's progress is helpful. Good Luck!

Congrats on your journey!! You might want to work on changing some of your habits now. It will make it much easier for you after the surgery. Things like chewing really well and putting your fork down between bites. No drinking with meals and none until 30-60 minutes after and no carbonation. That was a hard one for me. Keep us posted. We got your back!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
