My husband was wondering if there was anything he should be aware of, looking for,or doing after the surgery. Aside from support is there anything he should know. He is concerned about when he should know when to take me to the emergency room  , and what to expect in general. Thanks

Well, lets hope he does not have to take you to the ER. Hubby needs to be supportive, not bring trigger foods into the house, be supportive, listen to you whine, and encourage you to keep on with the program and give it tie to be effective. Mine reminds me if I star to eat too fast or too big bites. Mostly he just needs to respect that this journey is not easy and will have ups and downs. Most of us never go the the ER. I have made a couple trips to the ladies room to PB... but otherwise, no excitement. Just follow the doctor's plan. Oh yes, and do not offer you food!

And please do all the lifting (laundry, groceries) for the first 4-6 weeks after surgery.

**And please do not think it is abnormal to ask for him to go to the grocery store for SF popsicles at 10 at night :P

The hospital will give you discharge instructions for things to look for that may indicate you need to call your doctor.

Agree that DH just needs to be supportive and keep trigger foods out of the house!! There may be a day or two that you question what you have done to yourself -- this is perfectly normal and passes quickly!

One thing DH might need to be aware of if he has any weight issues: Tell him NOT to eat all the food you're no longer eating. My poor DH started doing that as soon as I was back on normal food and now his weight had gone up quite a bit!

Tell him the effectiveness of the band is directly related to how many foot massages you receive.
