I was banded on March 27th. I have not been feeling sick since surgery. But I started feeling sick yesterday afternoon after I ate cheese and ham. Than 3 hours later had the smallest amount possible of lasagna and sala. All of a sudden I feel my stomach real sore, like after you do a lot of setups. When I try and take a deep breath my stomach feels like it sore. Since I have got banded the second week I started walking half a mile so you can't say if from sitting down. My symthoms are nauseated, sore stomach, and little appetitie..... HELPPPPPPP!

Are you suppose to be eating those types of foods 3 weeks after surgery? I am unsure what kind of meal plan your doctor put you on, but that seems kinda rushing it on the solids. I would call doctor. Hope this helps.

I agree with kiley. I had my surgery on the 28th and I am just now starting some soft foods like scrambled eggs and retried Beans. I would check with your dr regarding your diet.

Does sound like you over ate. Your new full feeling isn't like the old thanksgiving stuff you're used to.

Hope everything clears up soon.

I was pretty much eating normal foods at about 10 days post op. everyone's instructions are different :-)

I'm 7 days post op, tomorrow is 8, but I'm on soft foods, meat included (chicken, shrimp, ground beef, fish) as directed by my surgeon and move to full menu on post op day 17, so while it may seem soon, all of our meal plans are different. My surgeon also gives your first fill at 3 weeks as well.

My surgeons instructions were to be on liquid diet for three weeks- 1st week juice and broth, 2nd week puréed Soups and yogurt, 3rd week mashed soft foods- no Water with meals, and Protein Shakes everyday to accommodate our need for Protein. I'm following the diet so the body can heal. They say no pastas, rice, breads, etc for the first month, as they'll expand and damage the band.

Can you drink Water? If not due to the nausea symptom I believe you may have some food stuck. If you can't drink anything, you should be at your doctor's office or ER immediately, dehydration is not fun at all.

Is the pain near your heart area? If it is, it usually means you have some food stuck or trying to force itself through the band. Another symptom is 'sliming', when you have an abnormal amount of mucus produced in the esophagus. You will know exactly what I mean if it happens.

If you have ANY problems whatsoever after having the lap-band, now or any time in the future you should call your doctor immediately. Do not wait, just call. It never hurts to ask questions and talk about what is going on. Especially since this is such a new experience.

I was banded 3/13/13 and they said nothing but soft foods until 6 weeks post op. Maybe you shouldn't eat like that until you speak with the doctor. Good luck

Yes, just because your nutrition plan says you can eat like that doesn't mean your body is ready for it. I took one more weeks of liquids before I moves onto mushies because I listened to my body when it was painful to eat anything more solid then applesauce.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
