Are you getting enough Protein? Also look into taking Biotin. You can even find shampoos that have biotin in them. Good luck.

Nioxin can be bought at any hair salon or beauty supply store. I used it as a prevention, never did lose any hair. Not sure if that was the reason, but it can't hurt. It's kinda pricey (about $25), but your hair is worth it!

Nioxin is a great product! I haven't lost any hair (yet), but a few years back I started shedding, and Nioxin saved me. As a matter of fact, thank you Marci....for mentioning it. I think I'll switch back to it now, to hopefully avoid any loss since being banded.

Famous1 - you might also want to pick up a product called Biosil. You can get it at a health food store. It's different from Biotin, but between the two, you should see a difference. Here is a link. It comes in capsules or liquid drops.

This doesn't look to be surgery related Hair loss, which occurs pretty evenly throughout the scalp area. You might consider talking to your dermatologist about it. hair loss that starts at the crown like that is usually pattern baldness and occurs in females as well as males.

It could be the start of alopecia. It could be due to a fungal infection or psoriasis. It could even be from chemicals used processing your hair. As msmaui say's, it is best to have it checked out by the dermatologist.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
