How many weeks until first fill?

Recommended Posts

I'm guessing that every doctor is a little different, but what is the average amount of weeks after surgery, before the first fill? Right now I'm not aware of much restriction, and it's annoying. I guess I'm in bandster hell - LOL.

Ugh! I get my first fill on the 17th. When I first joined the this awesome lapBand group I always wondered what Bandster Hell was but I am know living it!! I was banded on March 21 and if it weren't for my incisions I would think that I had never had a band! Restrictions!...What restrictions? But I can say that I do have more energy from not eating junk and heavy food and can see a difference in my body as well.... And I am staying off the scale to avoid disappointment. I love these forums they have helped me tremendously an everyone is so helpful:)

It was never a question about time.....

Each visit, my Dr. would look at my weight loss (or gain) since last visit, ask a few basic questions about hunger, cravings, etc, would refer to the "Yellow-Green-Red" chart he has hanging on the wall and discuss where I was at....

THEN he would determine whether or not I needed a fill, and how much.....

It's all about loosing weight, steadily.....and if you are, be it from the band or from good old discipline and dieting, then there is no need to get a fill.....

But, if we were that disciplined and good at dieting, then there was no need to have weight loss surgery.....because we would not be fat....

So it depends upon you and your progress.....

My first fill was at three weeks then every two weeks till I hit greenzone ( about four months for me). My fills were very small every two weeks.

I get my first fill at 3 weeks post op

Would LOVE to get a fill three weeks out, but I know that won't happen. My first post-op appointment doesn't happen for one month after surgery, and I'm sure they won't do it then. I'll probably have to schedule it for another time. I think I'll call their office today & find out how it works. I'm guessing the answer will be that it depends on how quickly I heal from surgery.

Yeah, I'm with ya. I'm on smooth/soft mushy foods, and I don't feel that "stop" quite so quickly. I think if it wasn't for the plication, I'd be struggling worse than I am. Monday I can bump up to the next level, which allows white fish, shellfish, chicken and ground turkey/beef & sliced deli meats. Once that type of Protein is in the mix, I'll be MUCH better off! Then, on 4/25, I can add toasted bread, corn tortillas, quinoa & couscous. I think at the 4 week mark, there will be enough dense Protein rich food to keep me satiated (happy).

I like the idea of smaller fills more often, until reaching "the zone". I'd much rather move slowly toward that place, then have too much, be miserable, and have to have an un-fill. I used to dive in head first with everything. Over time (and age) I've learned to take smaller steps. It saves a lot of pain and misery along the way! LOL

My 1 week post op appointment was just that...a post op follow up....check my incisions, look for infections, clearances for soaking, returning to work, exercising, etc....but fills were not even talked about.

Yesterday, my food day wasn't planned very well. I had to be at a client most of the day, and figured a Protein shake would cover me until dinner. By the time I got home I was famished! I ended up having close to 1200 calories for the day, which felt like a lot. Only being 18 days out, I like to keep the intake between 800-1000. But I had to REMIND myself that 1200 calories is still a weight loss number. I just didn't like the out of control feeling I had when eating. Like nothing was going to fill me up. Thank God for the plication!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
