Tashaplus3 29 Posted April 10, 2013 I love salad. Thankfully I am still able to eat it with my lap band. I love love love balsamic vinegar. I use olive oil, just a little. It's so damn high in calories, so I am wondering how I can minimize the calories by using something else. Anyone have any suggestions?
dylanmiles23 2,198 Posted April 10, 2013 I eat salad almost every day but I have never had dressing in my life. I know-I am weird. But have you tried spraying the salad. In a suburb of Boston there is a very famous steak house, Ken's and they are famous for their salads and they are sprayed. A salad maker told my MIL years ago. They sell the spray bottles but it is most likely cheaper to get your own bottle and spray.

Jachut 487 Posted April 10, 2013 Your body actually absorbs the nutrients in a salad better if it contains some fat. just don't overdo the oil - a spray is a great idea
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted April 10, 2013 They make a surprisingly decent amount of fat free and low fat salad dressing. They're also lower calorie, too. If you check in a higher end grocery store you'll find a wider variety.
marfar7 1,533 Posted April 10, 2013 I LOVE Kens Steakhouse creamy caesar dressing. Didn't know it was actually a restaurant. You can't put salad dressing in a regular sprayer, you have to buy one of the olive oil sprayers (about $20 at target) and put any dressing in there. Personally, I think the ones that come in the sprayers on the grocery shelf are gross. I would buy an olive oil sprayer and spray it on, if you're looking to cut calories. Or just dip you fork tines in the dressing first before stabbing the salad. Thats what I do. You get a taste of the dressing but not many calories. Marci Ken's Steak House is very old and elegant style but people now go in jeans. They offer all you can eat salad that is sprayed with their Italian dressing. My MIL thinks the restaurants dressings are better than the bottled. I guess different factory. They have wonderful onion rolls, I never tasted one-maybe 3-4. I use their lite Cesaer to marinade everything.
feelinggood 152 Posted April 11, 2013 i love the ken's lite balsamic vinaigrette. i tip the bottle and pour out as much of the oil as i can. don't know why with the lite dressings the makers always put so much in them. but it's yummy and then i add just a little sprinkle of splenda.
