Who had problems with sagging skin after weight loss?

Recommended Posts

Just curious... I've been as high as 365, and the band is finally kicking in and working. My weight is coming off--down to 333 now. I've been as low as 290 in the past just by dieting and exercise, but I am hoping the band will allow me to keep the weight off that I am now losing. My goal is to get to 250 or 240. Have any of the guys on here had problems with sagging skin after losing a similar amount?

And, how did you deal with it??

So far I've gone from 275.5 to 215 total of 60.5 lbs lost since 12/5 to now. Not a jiggle or sag in sight and I haven't been working out really. But as others say it could depend on age, how long you have been overweight, stretch marks and just plain old genes.

have the sag arms and the tummy sag also, trying to work it out but not successful. I am 65 so it could be age or bad genes lol Hope I do not have to do surgery as my insurance will not pay for it.

I had saggy skin everywhere, but i had lost 237 lbs, theres many factors that contribute to sagging skin, amount of weight u lose, age, hormones, genetics etc, if u are going to get it theres not much u can do about it, is saggy skin worse than skin filled with fat ? i wore my saggy skin like a badge of honour till i had surgery to get rid of it all, but even without the plastic surgery losing weight was far more important. You have to ask yourself why u are worrying about saggy skin, but didnt worry about stretching it by being heavy :)

concentrate on things u can change and not things u cant ( not without money and surgery anyways :) )

My theory is I most likely will have it. There is nothing I can do to prevent it so I try really hard not to worry about it.. You wont really know until you lose a lot of weight. Focus on weight loss.

My fear is bat wings on my arms but I'll take saggy skin over fat any day. Everybody is different depending on many factors.

Skin sagging is a problem I enjoy compared to the ones I had at over 450 lbs. Focus on food Plan, sleep and Exercise becoming healthy and fit because these are all things you can affect!

i asked my hub this......does he care if i am saggy?

he said he'd take sag over the scale saying 300+ pounds.....

and wouldnt you know, i think the very same thing..

its based on age, the amount of weight on has to lose, genetics etc..

you can tone or you can have surgery or you can learn to love what you are..

Excess skin is a your mileage may vary topic. There are so many factors in play. You can tip the scale the most in your favor by slow steady weight loss combined with good rest, hydration, and exercise.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
