My insurance (BCBSM) said covers lap band, but have to have BMI of 35 with a comorbidity (sp)....

My BMI is right about 33... Should I discuss with a lap band dr or just forget about it?

Well, there is always hope. I don't guess it would hurt anything. I think the insurance will deny it though with that BMI. Fingers crossed for you.

You need to shrink an inch or gain 10 lbs. Don't be vain and cling to an exagerrated height? Not saying you are, but I've seen some folks with similar BMI problems who might qualify if they gained weight or lost an inch in height? Check it out?

And the list of co-morbids is a long one.

If you really want anything you should not give up so easily.

I swore for years I was 5'8 but when I went to my consult I was 5'6- that was enough to get my Bmi up there

make sure u weigh in with heavy jeans on, lots of change in the pockets and anything else to add the weight .. if u are desperate, Water weight too helps, load up on salt and water the night before like they have done on biggest loser. To be honest make sure u think this surgery is the only answer left for you :)

That's funny! It's just the opposite of how we dress and behave when we go in for our post surgical visits, isn't it? I know I wear my lightest shoes, wear lightweight shorts and t-shirt. I hold off on drinking any water 2 hours before I go in so that scale is as low as it can be?

Give it a try. It can't hurt and you may be surprised. Good luck.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
