CHICKENS HATE ME!!

Recommended Posts

Since getting the band in August of 2012, I have come to the conclusion that chicken's hate me...even in egg form. I have had trouble from the beginning with chicken.. I don't care how slow I eat it, how soft its cooked, what form it's in.. I can't even eat scrambled eggs. It all comes back.. WHATS UP WITH THAT???

Oh, I'd hate to not be able to tolerate chicken. Pre-band, I ate so much chicken I risked sprouting feathers. I'm now cleared for regular foods (in small pieces, of course) and happily have been fine with moist chicken and fluffy, wet scrambled eggs. That said, I have no fill yet so this may change, but I hope not.

Funny I have no issues with chicken or eggs but you give me a piece of steak regardless of how tender it is going to be problematic for me.

I agree with Jim i can tolerate scrambled eggs and chicken. But when it comes to steak of any kind forget it!I can't tolerate it at all! Some people can tolerate tortillas wrap sandwiches I can't tolerate that it all.I do like the Jimmy John's unwich!Everyone is different on what they can tolerate but the majority of what gets stuck that is mushy is the same. You have to figure out what you can tolerate and go from there.Good luck!

I have no problems eating chicken or eggs. I only have 3 cc's in my band right now, so it could become a problem after my next fill. I tried a piece of steak that was tender and it went down okay. To be honest I haven't had anything that I couldn't eat so far. No stuck episodes or pbing. Either I am a good chewer or just not enough in the band to cause problems. I guess we will see after my fill on the 22nd.

I have meant others who have issues with chicken. I cut it up in such small pieces it looks like the chunky cat food I give my 8 pound cat. Eggs so far are ok, but I have a friend who has the Ruen Y and she has issues with eggs. Each of us is different. I have only had one fill after surgery so I have about 4 cc all total and I wonder if some of these foods will become an issue after more fills.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
