Summerrain 520 Posted April 10, 2013 Ok to those of you that have had gallbladder problems what have your symptoms been? To those that had to have it removed was it a severe attack or did you have pain on and off leading up to removal? I'm asking these questions as yesterday afternoon I developed a pain just under my right rib cage area, breathing hurt and breathing more deeply hurt more, I couldn't bend down all the way either and getting into a sitting position then standing hurt too. It's a lot better now nearly 24 hours later but this morning I woke with a bitter taste in my mouth which I still have. They are my only symptoms and I do have an appointment with my local doctor tomorrow. I didn't do anything strenuous yesterday so don't think it's that type of injury. Thanks in advance to the replies.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted April 10, 2013 I just had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago. The pain you describe can be from a lot of things, however the fact you're tasting the bitter taste in your mouth (bile) too sounds like a gallbladder to me. My pain was everywhere not isolated to the right side. It came in waves, almost like contractions. For me, it was all the sudden and very severe. Normally people have signs their gallbladder is going for weeks or even months but my doctor said because I already eat a very low fat healthy diet I wasn't eating the things that would normally aggravate it. So, by the time it did finally go, my gallbladder was filled with stones. My kidney function was low, my liver enzymes were high, my potassium was low, and my blood pressure was only 90/50. I woke up Sunday morning in pain and by 10pm that night I was retching in agony and went to the ER. It was simply awful. Definitely get it checked out. Trust me, it can get REALLY bad and it's better to catch it early.
donna12 742 Posted April 10, 2013 I'm almost 10 mos post op lap band and had my gallbladder removed Dec 3rd. for the first 6 mos of my journey I was pretty much sick everyday, little did I know it was gallstones and gallbladder. I was nauseated, vomiting some and pain like Missy said, contractions but mine were in my back. My surgeon that did my lap band is also a general surgeon so he removed my gallbladder. Once in there he said it was so diseased and had attached itsself to my liver that he had to carefully cut it away and I lost a lot of blood. Ended up what was suppose to have been a same day surgery spending the night in the hospital with a drainage tube in my side so needless to say I was slow going to recover but geel great now. Best wishes to you and hope all goes well with you, keep us posted. Big hugs.

Tiny1234 121 Posted April 10, 2013 Summerrain, my symptoms were just like yours. It hurt to breath, it took my breath away. I had to have 2 different types of antibiotics but that did the trick in regards to my pain (gallbladder was diseased) and I had my gallbladder removed about a month ago. There was 1 large stone causing all that grief. Surgery was a breeze, glad it's all over with. Your gallbladder is attached to your liver, that's normal, I actually watched the operation on you tube, easy peasy...at least for the dr.
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted April 10, 2013 i had my GB out in 2004 and my signs where in between my shoulder blades and it hurt something fierce...sharp/stabbing pains...after the 3rd trip to the ER, they finally xrayed me and found a whole bunch of stones......had emergency surgery shortly thereafter. 2 funny things..my hub told them on that last visit, you are keeping her (me) til you fix her...yeah he said it.....and that same week, my bulldog had her gallbladder removed too for gallstones.....we had 2 jars with hers and mine in them for awhile. so yeah, it hurts and its painful. my dr said i got mine as i lost about 50 pounds quick that year and hence the buildup. hope you feel better.
