jdewv 3 Posted April 9, 2013 The surgeon said I was accepted to the lap band program at end of march. I went to my pcp and he said insurance wants me to wait 6 months and write my calories everyday. Am I expected to lose weight? I'm having trouble getting into the right mindset. I want this surgery so much!!!!
ISIKJallaq 31 Posted April 9, 2013 My surgeon insisted I lose weight during that diet period. Or at least stay the same. If I had gained, he would put my surgery off for a month, or until I got it under control. I was suppose to be banded in November 2012. I got banded 3/13/13. Ask your surgeon, and he will be able to give you the right answers. But try your best to lose some now. It will make you better for surgery! Good luck! 2 jdewv and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Jim1967 3,569 Posted April 9, 2013 My Surgeon expected each patient to lose at least 5% before surgery. They want to shrink the liver as much as possible to make the surgery safer and easier. They also wanted to see if the person was really committed to making a life style change and not out for an easy fix. Band is no easy fix that much is certain. 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and Terry Poperszky reacted to this

ISIKJallaq 31 Posted April 9, 2013 Ok thanks! I'm hoping once I see the surgeon on the 22nd It will all feel more real. I had to wait 9 months originally, which turned out to be 14 months because I didn't want to behave around the holidays. Just keep in mind your doctor can with hold this from you if you don't put your heart into it. You should do great! Keep us posted! 2 mama angela and jdewv reacted to this
