Having A Moment and Overwhelmed

Recommended Posts

I'm currently at my 2nd to last nurtrition visit and im so stressed and nervous. I have to take test to medically clear me for my surgery. Everything is happening so fast . I'm feeling alone and like I'm going through this alone. I haven't told anyone that I am doing this except my husband . I didn't want to tell my mom because I know she will try to talk me out of it . She's a controller and tries to tell what she thinks is best. Although it comes from a good place I do t feel like dealing with that. You guys have been amazing and I know everything will be okay. I think I want to schedule some time with a therapist just to get a lot of things out that I have been holding. This is life changing and my mind needs to know that. Making me an appt for this week. I'm more than ready to do this and I can't wait to change my life . It's a lifestyle change and I know I need support to do this. I'm using all my resources . Cheers to a new me! I guess I'm just a bit overwhelmed right now

It happens but you deserve this for yourself. You will do so well and in a few months you will be so glad you did this for you. Turn here anytime you need a boast.

i felt much like you when i started. i also only told my hub at the beginning..and it was an uphill battle...but you know what, i have read your comments and i know you are a strong person..inside and out and there is nothing you cant do. my mom sounds like yours very much but its not about her or even elvis. it is about you.. you are making yourself well. do not let anyone stand in your way...via words or locking you in the closet..you get yourself well...get that want power and put on those high heels and work it.....because you are a success now....nothing wrong with getting overwhelmed and having a moment.....i put myself on a time out often and many times from my friends on here....telling me to take a chill pill and threaten to come out here to NC and whip my hiney...lucky you, i cant find my way out of a broom closet so i cant threaten to come get you........you are this close......keep going sugar.

Ditto to all the above. It is a big decision, and is sounds like you are taking all the right steps to prepare yourself. Bravo to you!

Does your surgeon's office provide support groups? Those might be a good source for you as well. Mine has several, and they are a great resource to work through some of what you're going through. You will make it, and I believe that you'll be SO MUCH happier moving toward a healthier.....you :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
