ooooo! :o I wanna hear the whole story? Surgical, as in they cut you? Usually they can go down your throat and pull it out? Or, deflate the band completely? What the H*** did you eat to get stuck so bad.

OK, never mind. I found your post from two days ago. Learning to eat with this band is one of the biggest challenges you will face. Someone mentioned mush to you. Take it to heart. food must be a mush or soupy before you should swallow it or you could face, literally, the long tube of extraction.

It turned out that when they placed my band, I had one cc in there. I told the nurse that I thought it was empty... She looked at me crazily! It must be common practice to put a little in at the time of surgery. What's the big secret, tell us, Dammit!

Hudgie sorry you've had such a bad start to your lapband journey. I had 4.8 cc's in my band at time of surgery and I was told that saline would be put in ( I have a 14 cc band).

I'm also curious, how did they extract the stuck piece of meat?

I'm nearly nine months banded and I still eat meat with no problems and I have 8.3 cc's in my band at the moment. How big a piece did you swallow? You won't have to give up meat unless it truly does give you problems once you're at restriction, you just have to take small bites and chew well. Also I buy top quality meat and am careful not to over cook it so it doesn't dry out.

I'm glad your drama is sorted out, just be patient, follow your rules and you will do fine, it's a learning process day to day.

Being emotional is also part of the process ( I know yours was due to what you've just gone through), its ok to get emotional. Just stay strong and follow the rules from now on. I wish you the best.

Well guys, I'm feeling pretty good today. The True Results Houston has been really good to me. I am a little sore in the chest area, around the band, and I am back on liquids. All is good. Most expensive piece of meat that I have ever eaten.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
