4 days post op, does this look normal?

Recommended Posts

First full body picture was earlier today, I went for a walk, body cramped up stomach and shoulder hurt like hell. went a little too far(apparently even though it was nothing really) anyway, now I'm laying in bed and it looks like this. Does this look normal ? Should I call my doctor tomorrow?

Seepage is normal after a surgery like this. If you feel like the incision sites are compromised you should call your doctor.

Looks like bruising? Unless your incision has come open or you have foul smelling discharge or a feverish site you are probably ok. Normal walking should not have caused any problems.Of course throw the generic disclaimer in to always check with your surgeon if you are concerned. :)

It's just that the bruising want there before I went for the walk and now it's covered in the huge spots so I wasn't sure.

Call doctor if still concerned in morning. If you develop a fever consider going to ER.

I think it is normal, too! But don't just go to ER, call your surgeon before you do that! Best wishes, Karen

It looks like a hematoma which is just blood beneath the skin. I get them frequently during blood draws with inexperienced nurses.

If the area is tender or warm to the touch see your dr immediately but if the only strange thing is bruised like coloration I wouldn't worry too much. You probably just had a capillary open up near the incision site.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
