HELP!! Sabotaging Myself With Booze!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I have been reading the posts on this thread and note that no one has suggested increasing the level of exercise that you can do. Whenever I have a big eating / drinking event coming up I do an EXTRA 45 - 60 mins (per day) of cardio during the week proceeding the event. Given my weight and the length of time I am exercising I can accumulate a 4000 calorie deficeit, which I can then use for drinks and food during the event.

Hope this helps

Regards

I have this exact same problem!!! I love going out and partying with my friends but really have to watch the calories. I stick to wine (90 calories a glass) and try to limit it to about three glasses, which normally gets me really tipsy. However, even those extra 300 calories can be bad news. I'm seriously thinking of switching to pot...

Don't do that! Pot gives you terminal munchies. As George Carlin says, have you ever seen the cookie aisle in a really band neighborhood?

Oh yeah... I forgot that pot gave you the munchies, that can't be good! Try switching to herione (I've never seen an overweight junkie)

How about ordering sparkling Water with a twist of lime and tell everyone you are drinking gin? No one will know that you aren't drinking alcohol, and you are not consuming empty calories. You can then act wild and crazy without the booze and no one with notice.

Sparkling Water is carbonated. I wouldn't do it. Ice water with a lemon and a swizzle stick. Looks like a drink but won't KILL you with calories.

I mean ice water between actual alcoholic drinks! Alternate.

Clear rum and Minute maid low cal juice or Diet Tropical Blend V-8. If you must drink lets make it low carb. Do you eat late after you drink???????

You might try to find something else to do on the weekends. It will slow your weight loss.Good luck

Order vodka & Water, and mix in a crystal light.

Also, pot doesn't give you munchies. Just don't eat anything, and you won't have the munchies. Pot munchies come from not being able to stop eating. So just don't eat anything.

My friend and I will be banded in July, our Dr. told us we cannot drink liquor or bubbly drinks for a year - is that true?!

We have a girl trip planned for January and I cannot imagine going to Mexico and not drinking!

Yeh. I think all docs tell you that. But my dietician told me that it was fine to drink non-carbonated drinks (i.e. sugar free margaritas/daquiris (see www.bariatriceating.com for GREAT mixers) and my personal favorite is WINE. Also, if I can spare the calories I'll go for a Cape Cod (cranberry juice and vodka).

The bubbly drink thing is supposed to be for the rest of your life (or at least your banded life) because "supposedly" the carbonation can expand the pouch and the extra gas causes discomfort.

About 2 months out I had a sip of champagne and it didn't bother me, but I just don't want to risk it.

Generally docs say no alcohol for a year or so because they don't want you to have the empty calories.

;) Kristin

P.S. LMAO at your screen name! I love it!!

My surgeon discourages alcohol (stimulates the appetite) but does not forbid it. Carbonation is on the no-no list so sodas are history.

I'm sorry that you are struggling with this tough issue on top of dealing with all the other "band rules". My doctor makes his patients sign a "contract" that says we won't drink for atleast a year. He said that alcohol is liquid calories but more importantly causes stress to the body which releases cortisol and cortisol causes the body to store fat, particularly in the belly. I hope this helps.

:cocktail: I have not been banded yet, but I can tell you I sure am happy that you can still have a drink if you wanted too after the band. I thought once you were banded that was it. I rarely drink, but the thought that I would lose the freedom to choose to have one if I wanted one was kinda flipping me out. Anywho, I know this is more a cookout or home drink than at the bar, but rasberry crystal light with absolute vodka is yummy!!! :cocktail:

The problem is you see the alchohol as Sabotaging yourself rather than ENJOYING yourself. We give up so much with the band lets try to enjoy somethings in life. I used to hardly drink before I got banded and now I find that a drink of wine or a shot of vodka once in a while really actually helps with the fact that I can not eat as much as I used to. First of all with less in my stomach it takes a whole lot less alchohol to get me buzzed, I am sure its the same with you. Second, as we all know liquids go down and stay down, so we tend to have them more often than solids. Youre not going to get fat again from the alchohol, as a matter of fact take a good look at severe alcholics, the majority of them are super skinny, the beer belly guys are eating wings and pretzels with those beers and thats causing them to get fat. The super models are drinking up a storm and NOT eating and thats allowing them to have fun and stay skinny.

So in summation drink up, your a beautiful girl your only going to get more beautiful and enjoy life and your new figure. The weight will come off, just stay away from higher calorie liquids (ice cream etc.) and you will look and feel great.

Enjoy your new skinny life.....Lord knows I am.

Hi!

I'm still having this problem and just the other day, a co-worker bought me a bottle of "Tequila Rose" for my birthday. It's a creme liquere and since the bosses were out, we were all drinking in the office! Now, I tried looking up the calories on it and while there were none posted anywhere online, I decided to look up the calories for Bailey's Irish creme since I'm sure the two drinks are similar. GASP! Bailey's has 90 calories PER OUNCE!!! OUCH! So going by that count, I probably consumed 1,200 from the Tequila Rose! UGGGH! How depressing! I like the advice of not eating with pot and therefor avoiding the munchies! Although, when I smoked it in college, I once ate an entire Entements bananna cake, an order of cheese fries, and half a large pizza in one sitting! LOL!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
