Not beating first plateau

Recommended Posts

Had Lap band surgery in November 2012. I am down 58 pounds with 1 fill (6cc) and have officially hit week #3 of my first plateau. I have an appointment scheduled for another fill on the 23rd but am wondering how long this will last. In the past, when I have hit these plateau's I would quit and turn to food. This time I have picked up my weight lifting routine. Starting to get frustrating...Any advice would be wonderful.

I have hit several of these. My weight has only budged 3 lbs in the last 3 months. However, my doc says this is totally normal. To just make sure I am following the plan he set out for me and my body will catch up with what is going on. Our bodies have gotten so use to being heavy and us taking in a lot of food, after we loose weight it takes a while for it to catch up and understand what is happening is good and it doesn't need to hold on to every fat cell for dear life.

Keep doing what you are doing. I keep getting told it will be better!

If you've increased your weight lifting program, you're probably replacing lost fat with muscle so you won't see the results on the scale but should see it in less body inches and looser fitting clothes. Click on this link to better understand how this works?

Plateaus SUCK!! I totally feel your pain. Try to focus on those 58 pounds you've lost, that's amazing. I agree that weights might slow your loss down. It did for me. I've hovered around the same weight for a couple of months now, but I've gone down almost 2 sizes. I've actually broken up with my scale. IT was too depressing.

Keep up the great work!

Yeah I agree muscle weighs more then fat but burns calories faster. Make sure you are checking your measurements and how your clothes fit.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
