I hear ya Kai! Eating out is a big part of my social life and this worried me so much...would I find myself not being able to eat out and socialize as I had been. Well...I found the same as you....make a smart meal choice, pay attention to the amount you eat, and just enjoy the evening. I've been banded three months now and have been out to eat with folks who know about the surgery, and those who don't. I've realized that no one is paying attention to what I'm eating and between talking and other stuff, I can take those small bites, and do my chewing and waiting between forkfuls and no one notices. This has been a huge relief for me....being able to keep this part of my life and not having to give it up. BTW, I'm down nearly 45 lbs. so just know that you can incorporate eating out into your new life as long as you think ahead a little bit. Oh...and I try to stay away from certain restaurants that have very high sodium meals. To my horror, I saw that crab legs at Red Lobster is amazingly high in sodium. Who would have thunk it? Good luck to you and enjoy the journey.

Ask for a take home box when you are served. Remove half to two thirds of the serving from your plate, put it in the take home box, close the box. Take it home, put it in the refrigerator, open it tomorrow, heat half of the contents, put the other half back in the refrigerator for your next meal or for the next day. No wasted food, no major meal prep for you, saves time and money. It works for me.

Wow. You ate out real soon. Glad you had no problems. I either bring home food or order from the children's menu. I also have a card from Lap Band that says something about ordering smaller meals. I have used it a few times.

only Chinese restaurants have rejected the card. No one has said no to the children's menu when I explain. Some restaurants have nice choices on the kid's menu. One that is in the Boston area has salmon on their menu and steak tips, a different choice for kids.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
