My post op literature gives huge warnings about red meat...especially grainy, tough, dry red meat. Thankfully I'm not a fan of red meat so I'm not frustrated about giving this up. When I've had the meat urge, I've eaten ground beef which goes down fine.

Sorry you got stuck and esp. with no restriction in your band...because it's not like they can unfill you...you are already unfilled! I hope you feel better soon.

Water, tea, coffee, pineapple juice has all gone down. I don't know if I'm truly 'stuck' anymore. When I was, I did slime, and get it out. What does it feel like after? Are you sore around the band?

Soreness really depends on how stuck or irritated the area was. I have gotten pills stuck and been uncomfortable the next day. So bad that my Dr had to remove a bit of Fluid from the band. But I think I was overfilled from the beginning.

Well, I went in today. Yea. Worst day of my life. They had to put me under. I was truly stuck. They pushed it through. It was a piece of meat. As a cattle rancher, I am truly considering becoming a vegetarian. Sad day! Seriously, felt like removing it entirely. Feel like a huge failure, with my huge mistake. :(

Truly the worst health experience of my life

Truly the worst experience of my life. I went in today' date=' thinking I was unclogged. I wish. I had a piece of meat lodged just above the band. They had to extract it surgically! Seriously, felt like removing it entirely. Feel like a huge failure, with my huge mistake. :([/quote']

Dear Hudgie, you are not a failure. You just need time to adjust to your band. I was 1 year post op 4/3/13 and I am still learning to adjust. Just chalk this incident up to a valuable learning experience. Hang in there. It does gets better.

I am a cattle rancher Turned complete baby today, crying, emotional. I went in for an evaluation, and came out in a wheelchair, having a family's member drive over 60 miles to come get me after having the doctor push the lodged meat through the band. :(

Hudgie I'm so happy that they helped you. Please don't feel Ike a failure. If you decide to have your band removed that is your decision and all it means is that you gave it a try and it didn't work "that's it". Nothing more nothing less. I am 18 days post op and I've had a very slow recovery because I had some nerve damage, one of many risks with any surgery , and I have asked my husband that in the event that something goes wrong, to please have them remove it all together, no going in to "fix" anything, just remove it. That is a very personal decision that I do not take lightly, however that will not make me a failure, not at all. So please don't feel that way. Being able to remove it, was one of the reasons that I prefer this surgery over the sleeve or the gastric bypass. I've shared all this with you because I think you are extremely courageous just to give it a chance, you took a chance, but that doesn't mean that you cannot change your mind, it's your body and you have every right to change your mind without reticule even from yourself. Hope u feel better.

I just typed out a response, and it did not post. In short, just so sad, and since my wife wasn't supportive in the beginning, this didn't help her opinion of things. :( please pray for me and an uneventful life with the band from this point forward!

Yes I will keep you in my prayers, and I'm Trully considering no red meat and no chicken only fish at least for a long time. I'm so sorry that you don't have the support from your spouse, I wouldn't be able to go through this agonizing pain without my husband. He's been my rock. We can pray for each other because when your body is traumatized, it can really mess with your mind. Make sure to repeat to yourself the most important rules every time u have a chance. While driving when alone when preparing a meal. Hope you feel better.

Hudgie, feel free to message me if you need someone to talk with about your experiences. I am newly banded 3-20, but my wife has had it over a year. I seem to have had a crash course in learning the band... Lol.

I am here for you man. Dealing with health and medical issues is no joke, that's got to be the time when you have permission to freak out a bit.

Watch the types of fish and their mercury content. Certain types have more and can become a poisonous situation.

I feel so bad for you. I'm sorry you had to go through this, it is additional trauma over the surgery trauma. And the irony of you being a cattle rancher!

I hope you are feeling better today.
