remembering to eat every few hours

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on March 19, and I am having trouble remembering to eat 6 small meals a day. Sometimes I dont even have an appetite other days I want.to eat everything in site. My schedule is so hectic and I am always on the go. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

My doctor told me just to eat 3 meals a day and that I could have a snack if I wanted. That's usually what I do. I'm ok with it because I don't have time to eat that many times a day.

i eat when i am hungry in my allotted amounts..

my dr told me to pic a baby, how they fuss when want a bottle and then turn head when full...and that explained alot to me.

not sure if that helps, but eat when you are really hungry and not just (head) hungry..congrats on your surgery.

I was told I could have 3 meals a day with 2 small Snacks. When I am at peak restriction I don't want the snacks. My doc told me that I just needed to make sure I was getting around 1500 calories a day (that total is for me since my fitbit averages my daily burn at 2200) no matter if it were in 3 meals or 5. I don't increase calories with junk I increase them with Protein and Fiber. For instance a fav snack of mine when I am hungry is apples and Peanut Butter (both the doc and NUT agree this is a great snack)

Best thing to do is talk to the Doc and NUT they can give you great advice. You are really early on, so your body isn't totally adapted to the band.

Good luck on your journey

Yes, I'm also on three meals a day to total one cup of protien and vegetable, and two Snacks. At first it seemed like way to much but this week I'm getting HUNGRY!! I could easily eat two cups now but am trying to stay focused. My first fill is Friday so hopefully it helps me =)

Good luck to you ....we can do this!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
