Are your incisions completely healed? If not then it wouldnt be wise to. I think that is awesome that you are doing zumba though. I wish I could. I still have alot of tenderness when I twist or bend.

i would think as long as (the incisions are closed/healed) but at 3 weeks, maybe not so much) its ok but i am not a doctor id ask your dr first just to be safe/sure...just give them a call monday and you will get your answer.

I would check with the doc. It would depend on the intensity of the class. Some are pretty intense and would be rough- I was told to be careful for 6 weeks, and NO ab exercise for at least 6 weeks.

As for the sauna- as you get fills you may find this a challenge. I find that saunas and hot tub time tends to make me tighten up and I have difficulty eating afterward; but maybe I am an odd duck.

I was cleared after one week, by my Surgeon....

I sit in the Whirlpool for 20 minutes BEFORE my workout to loosen up the muscles and these old aching joints.....

then after my workout, which includes a 5 mile run, sit in the sauna 30 minutes, 5 days a week....

I hope you understand that saunas are NOT for loosing weight, but do have many other beneficial purposes....I believe it is part of the reason that I do not have any excess skin after loosing all my weight.....

Yeah, I learned the benefit of moist heat before exercise during PT from my knee surgeries.

Yea I am aware of this. I do it for my skin, it makes it feel much cleaner and the toxins are released.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
