Hello everyone. I had surgery two days ago on Wednesday. I'm in the middle of my clear liquid diet and suddenly my stomach is rumbling non-stop. I'm sipping on liquids a lot, but my stomach hurts if I drink too much. I'm using Gas-X. I lost my voice after surgery and I was told it is because I'm a little dry to keep on top of the drinking.

My fear is that my children have the stomach bug and are throwing up a lot. Is the rumbling normal or is it me getting sick?

I cannot afford to throw up, but at least I'm still on the nausea patch, Bracelet, and pills (I get sick after anesthesia).

Thanks for any input you may have and it feels good to officially be a bandster.

Stomach noises are very common with the band and even a year later it still plays sweet music to me. As long as your not having nausea then I would say you are fine. Stomach gurgles and rumbles are something you will have with the band and may never go away.

Thanks, Jim. I am relieve to know it is normal and not a sign that I am getting sick. They have me on quite a bit of antinausea medicine right now though, so I cannot go by nausea too much. I called my nurse earlier and she told me to make sure everything is santized and to stay away as much as possible to keep from getting sick and to keep on top of the nausea meds just in case.

Yes, I think your rumblings are normal. I'm 3 months post-op and still rumbling. Best wishes!

My stomach talks before I eat then again after I eat and then when I like in bed.

Thanks everyone. I am keeping up with the gas-x tabs and doing the deep breathing for the CO2 and nerve issues. I was told a pillow over the belly when deep breathing helps the lungs expand without hurting my stomach. It helps! However, I am not quite sure that the rumbling is gas or digestive stuff. Either way, it is comforting to know it is normal. My poor hubby is having to take care of me and the kids so that we aren't mingly our germies and spreading the stomach bug more.

My stomach is still really tender, especially when twisting (not on purpose but to get something, like my drink) or drinking a lot (like at the end of the day when i'm finishing off my 64oz minimum).

I also think I am sipping too quickly which may be helping the gurgling and gas issues. I use to be a gulper, so sipping is something I'm doing pretty good at, but it seems at times that I'm taking too much air in between sips or taking too many back to back.

I'm just happy to be officially banded. I am staying on Clear Liquids until my doctors appointment Monday since they say 3-5 days and nutritionist recommended 5-7 days. 5 seems to be a happy medium... although yogurt would be wonderful!

My stomach pretty much only rumbles when I don't want it to.

My stomach still girggles and I'm 7 years out. I never know when it's going to happen... it can be before I eat or several hours after I eat or during the night. It can be VERY loud sometimes.

For me it's just a reminder that my band is working.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
